The beginning of every month is stressful around here. It's stressful because this is when TW's mother pays her bills. It's a huge production, filled with a lot of moaning, a lot of mess, a lot of missing items (generally found underneath the mess.)
It's stressful because we want her to be able to maintain her independence and control her money but we're not 100% sure she's paying what she needs to pay or making any real dent in getting these bills paid off (thus alleviating the stress of bill paying every month.)
She came to us with a lot of outstanding bills. She's not paying rent or utilities or food. We won't take money from her for those things (which is another post entirely) in hopes that she can pay off all of the bills she came to us with and keep up with the new medical expenses she and JR incur.
That's the hope.
At what point do we step in and take control over the bill paying? Is it wrong to open up those envelopes she's sealed to make sure she's paying stuff off rather than paying minimum payments - because I'll admit to being tempted...
