I have serious games to play; I don't have time for frivolous games like Guitar Hero. [cough]
Unfortunately, all of my efforts were for naught. The husband has officially undermined my authority and has brought the damn game home.

As I might have mentioned once or twice, Cara's birthday was last weekend.

In preparation for the blessed event, my mom and in-laws had been quizzing us on what presents they should buy for the rugrat.
Initially, [as in several months ago] we said, "Get her anything! She really likes kitties, but we figure she'll like whatever you get her."
What more could a grandparent ask for than carte blanche permission to buy their grandchild whatever they wanted?
And then Dora and Boots were recalled. [See! I told you they were EVIL!]
Every time I turned on the television, something else was being ripped from the shelves due to excessive lead levels.
Hold on. Time out.
Am I the only one who thinks that any level of lead is excessive?!
I feel better now. Back to the story.
I meticulously picked through Cara's hodge podge of toys.
Most are stuffed animals and books with the occasional block tossed in for good measure.
None of her toys were on any of the recall lists.
BIG sigh of relief.
After the initial recall, my tune changed a bit when it came to potential birthday presents.
Links to recall lists were emailed and I was emphatic about the evels of Lead Level Dora and her sidekick Bad Boots. [Sounds like a super hero, no? An evil super hero]
What I really wanted to tell everyone was to buy her wood.

With the advent of the Wii and the industry's increased focus on casual gaming, even the most "normal" mom can delve into the world of video games.

But, the more I thought about it, the more long forgotten memories came flooding back.

Months of hardcore grounding [ie, no tv, no phone, no reading, no visits with friends] for things that actually only deserved a couple of weeks of punishment.

They're like Barbie but ghetto fabulous and they look like little plastic sluts.

They are in cartoons and music videos, coloring books, a MOVIE...I even saw a Halloween "costume". I put costume in quotes since there wasn't much to the costume and it was for a two year old!

Night before last, Tucker hooked Steve III
up to the Internet so that we could update him. I’m pretty freaking
technologically gifted, but I have no idea what Tucker did to the cable
and the modem.

]]>I’ve noticed a lot of press recently concerning the Baby Einstein series of videos and its friends.
Do the videos really slow learning and lead to ADD/ADHD?
Dr. Christakis seems to think so and he’s a doctor so he’s got to be right. Right?
After reading all of this and hearing about it on the news for several days, I find myself wondering if maybe the videos are just an easy scapegoat.
