And, for someone who has been forced off of coffee (oh the woes of pregnancy) for almost 8 months now I have to say that Chockylit's (of Cupcake Bake Shop) most recent creation looks absolutely divine. Her Vietnamese Coffee Cupcakes look perfect and sound absolutely delicious. All the way from the base of a petit coffee-infused cakelet, to the filling of sweetened condensed milk pudding, to the tippy tippy top of the piped mountain of whipped cream and up to the fine dusting of ground coffee, these cupcakes have me in raptures.

I am literally shaking just from reading the recipe they sound so gorgeously scrumptious. Along with this recipe, Chockylit has also indulged us with instructions on how to make Vietnamese coffee "The result is strong, rich, creamy, and sweet...". Oh baby...I shudder.

Sam over at sweet pleasure: plaisir sucré has finally gotten us Canadian bloggers together for a Blogging-By-Post event! I know, I know, European bloggers have been doing it forever and American bloggers are on the bandwagon and having a merry old time with it. Finally we get to join in on the festivities!

Sending and receiving packages is one of my favourite things to do. I love the thought that goes into the package - hunting for specialty items and finding *the*perfect combination for the recipient. Then to receive one back in the mail is especially exciting! Opening the box to find crumpled paper wrapped around tiny treasures...ooooh, I can hardly wait! Especially since the inaugural theme is one of my favourites: CHOCOLATE.

So if you are Canadian (and you don't have to necessarily be a "food" blogger) and want to take part - you have the rest of this week to post your recipe, put together your package and email Sam to let her know you want to participate! Friday May 5th is the deadline - so get packing!

This month Chandra of Lick the Spoon came up with a fantastic theme: desserts with liquour. The results have left me rather tipsy but oh, so utterly giggly!

I am absolutely in a drunken stupor over Michelle's (of Je Mange la Ville) Vanilla Vodka Cheesecake Tartlets. They look like the perfect recipe to use some of that bottle of Stoli Vanilla Vodka I have hidden at the back of my freezer. "Some for the tarts, some for me...some for the tarts, some for me..." *Hic!*

This is a lesson we all need to try to take to heart. As we are all busily constructing and deconstructing multiple courses of multiple meals we sometimes forget that we don't always have to break our backs to make these delectable dishes. Yes, making your own phyllo or puff pastry is wonderful and your kitchen prowess increases ten-fold with every fold of the pastry as you labour over it.

BUT. Would an Apple Phyllo Napolean not taste just as delcious were it made with store-bought pastry...? I think it would!

I have always had a fondness for all things British (possibly because that is my ancestry). The lilting accents, the rather tumultuous history, the gorgeous architecture in the cities and the always interesting royalty - it's all good.

My only problem with Brits is their food. Until recently it just hasn't even begun to measure up to anywhere else in Europe...except in one facet. Their desserts. Puddings, custards, biscuits and other sweets seem to ooze out of Great Brtiain like olive oil does from Italy.

And now you can share your favourite British-style dessert with everyone while we all celebrate St. George's Day with Beck's & Posh and Jam Faced.
Her advice to "just say no" to apple pies that aren't this amazing is something we should all take to heart.
It appears that "Noir" was her favourite: "This is proper bittersweet dark chocolate, dusted with real cocoa powder on the top. These are Kit Kats for the chocolate conoisseur." - don't they sound scrumptious?! I get the feeling that the Blackcurrant/Grape flavour was the one she liked the least: "This smells like something that shouldn't be mixed with chocolate" ew!

It all started out as a search for Green Tea Kit Kats, which unfortunately she never came across. I think I would love the Noir and the Café Latté flavoursand of course the Maple Syrup one definitely piques my interest!
