I dropped out of Princeton, my dream school, and moved back home with my parents.

A psychiatrist diagnosed me with depression and gave me a prescription for a psychotropic drug. The side effects of the drug were intolerable. He stopped the drug and gave me a different drug. I had suicidal deviation. The side effects from the second drug were also debilitating. I had had enough. I used to be a happy-go-lucky guy with a bright future ahead of me.

Grandad, my retired grandfather told me to read the “The Book of the Century”-- “The Silent Crisis Destroying America’s Brightest Minds” by Sharon Rose Sugar. I only like to read mystery thrillers. No one reads this stuff unless a professor makes you read it.

He then tried to talk me into it by telling me it was chosen as the “Book of the Month” by the Alma Public Library in Wisconsin. Librarians don’t fudge the facts. But the truth is I read the book because I love my grandfather and I want to make him happy. And he is not happy seeing his grandson depressed and drugged by well meaning but misinformed psychiatrists who behave like pill-pushing prescription drug dealers. They handout psychotropic drugs with dangerous side effects like its Halloween candy. I then suffered from my depression and the side effects of the drugs.

One chapter into the book, I could not believe that I am a mere statistic. There are thousands of college students who are anxious, stressed, and depressed with suicidal tendencies. I called Ms. Sugar, met with her, and mastered her new learning technology, ACANDY Processing Tools. I learned how to eat properly, get adequate sleep, manage my time, and ace my tests. She wrote the book to help students like me, and I wrote this letter to say thank you to her and to help other college students. I plan on sending this letter and book to President Obama for Christmas.”

Teachers’ Campaign for Oprah’s Final Book Selection

“If You Want to Accomplish the Goals of Your Life, You Have to Begin with the Spirit” says the Queen of Talk, Ms. Oprah Gayle Winfrey.

Sharon Rose Sugar is the the author of the “The Silent Crisis Destroying America’s Brightest Minds” that was chosen as “Book of the Month” by the Alma Public Library in Wisconsin. She understands the importance of Oprah’s gratitude journal. Educators have to develop the mind, body, and spirit of a child.

According to Ms. Sugar, “Spiritual education develops the ‘Light from Within.’ That ‘Light’ is the inner voice in good times and bad times. Journal writing is an excellent way for students to simultaneously develop their English language writing skills and build the internal spiritual resources that are necessary to survive in a difficult, demanding, and dangerous world. The ‘human being’ is a man-made artificial construct. Spiritual education socializes the nasty human animal into a loving human being. Students learn how to choose cooperation over competition, sharing over selfishness, love over hatred, and truth over lies.”

Humming the same tune, Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Intelligence Plus Character -- That is the Goal of True Education.”

This book encapsulates Oprah’s vision of a world ruled by spiritual maturity. This is why Oprah should choose the “Book of the Century”as her final book club selection. It is a befitting choice that recognizes Oprah’s core values and central mission of her life, and her devotion to education and world peace.

Also, Ms. Sugar is nicknamed the “Mini Oprah on the Upper East Side of Manhattan” because she transforms floundering and failing students into Grade A students and pioneered the new learning technology. The books “EVERY DAY, AN EASY A,” “Your Study Room Is Under New Management,” “Back to School Smarts” and “The Academic Achiever” will place processing tools directly into the hands of all American students.

Before Oprah Winfrey bids farewell, she should make one more mark on the world and change the lives of teachers, parents, and students who need these books to grow, develop, and mature to their full potential.

The Silent Crisis Destroying America’s Brightest Minds

By Sharon Rose Sugar

ISBN: 978-1-885872-54-8

Why are the brightest among us, America’s Brightest Minds, committing suicide in every great school in the nation, by jumping off jagged cliffs, library balconies, dorm-room rooftops, and famous bridges?

This revolutionary book on American education courageously tackles tough and treacherous terrain. It treads dangerously on minefields deeply buried in American pedagogy. Armed with a penetrating arrow of perspicacious hindsight, insight, and foresight, this book will pierce your heart and mind and leave indelible footprints; it will awaken within you your own deeply buried and forsaken memories of academic heartache and triumph. Ms. Sharon Rose Sugar is a smart woman and this is a groundbreaking and brilliant book that will never gather dust on a library shelf or be passed over in a bookstore.

Most American students, even the brightest among us, will earn a diploma, but not an education, because most student are enrolled in a malfunctioning, private or public, "Quantity Over Quality Curriculum-Driven American education system" that is riddled with “Academic Insanity.”

As early as the third grade, most American students will suffer from the “Pain of Inadequacy” and graduate bearing the “Scars of Incompetence." The malfunctioning American education system is a runaway train manned by a blindsided conductor who is decapitating students without warning because he is clueless as to, ”How Does Learning Take Place?” Most students are anxious, stressed, and suffer "bouts of depression from the daily academic grind of “Read Cram, Regurgitate, and Test.” The abusive (tricky) “Hotdog” exams do not measure education. Too many American students are disconnected, depressed, distracted, disillusioned, disgruntled, disobedient—and drugged.

There are eight distinct groups of students who have become victims: America's Brightest Minds; misdiagnosed

A.D.H.D. students, children living in poverty, high school dropouts, America’s prison inmates, and military recruits;

lateral right-brain creative students; and depressed and suicidal college students drowning in student debt.

This book addresses the hot-button issues in American education: The A.D.H.D. epidemic; school-bomb scares; school

shootings and massacres; stop-lossed soldiers; America's prison population; high school dropouts; and college binge-drinking.

According to Ms. Sugar, "Most students do not learn how to succeed in the American education system; they spend most

of their time learning how to survive the American education system."

This book asks and answers more than fifty questions as to why the malfunctioning American education system is failing

to educate the strong linear left-brain students, as well as the most vulnerable: The lateral right-brain creative students.

Q: Why do the best schools have the highest suicide rates?

Q: Why do, America’s Brightest Minds, have to cut corners and cheat?

Q: Why do, America’s Brightest Minds, need metal detectors?

Q: Why are, America’s Brightest Minds, drinking themselves into a stupor, under a table, onto a floor, and into an early grave?

Q: Why are, America’s Brightest Minds, dropping out of the best schools in the nation?

Q: Why are the most sensitive and creative students misdiagnosed with, A.D.H.D., “an incurable brain disorder”?

According to the author, Ms. Sugar, an education-warrior stationed on the frontline of the battlefield for literacy, who

pioneered a new learning technology, ACANDY Processing Tools, and Intrapersonal-Integration Therapy, that heals dispirited

students. “I single-handedly rescued many children and I wrote the book to save the lives of millions of American children.”

This book is a wake-up call and a call to action. There is a bright and illuminating light at the end of the dark and dingy

education tunnel of doom and gloom:

Q: What are the fifteen stumbling-blocks of academic failure?

Q: What are the fifteen stepping-stones for academic success?

Q: How do you nurture and cultivate the awesome power of the human brain?

Q: How does learning take place?

Q: How does the new learning technology, ACANDY Processing Tools, transform victims into victors?

Q: What is the Universal Gold Standard of Education?

There is something for everyone: Teachers, parents, students, psychiatrists, and politicians. This book will never grow old

and gather dust on a library shelf because this book empowers, emancipates, and entertains, but most importantly, it educates, a rare and elusive commodity. This book has legs that walk the talk: Every Student Is a Success Story

1. The First Week of School

It only takes the first week of school for a student to
fall behind and start playing catch-up.

2. The Critical Hours of the School Day
The critical hours of your child's school day are
from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m: study room, study schedule,
study strategy, study snacks, homework, essays,
research papers and test preparation.

3. The Report Card
The report card tells you about the schoolwork your
child does at home (3-11 p.m.): homework assignments,
research reports, and test preparation (class participation 5%).

4. The Warning Sign: C Grade
The first C Grade is a sign that your child needs help ASAP. Bad grades are like dirty diapers. It is a parent's responsibility to clean up a child's dirty diapers and bad report card. Children cannot raise themselves. It is never the child’s fault. Doing well in school is all about the facts, namely, the retrieval of the facts and the return of the facts to the teacher.

5. Bad Grades, Pain, Disconnection and Permanent Records
A bad grade feels like a punch in the face. A bad grade hurts. Your child is in pain. Your child’s self-esteem suffers. Your child disconnects from the class. Your child becomes blocked. Your child becomes depressed. Your child becomes enraged. Your child acts out. Your child finds escapes: TV, internet, mp3 player and video games (sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll). Your child is labeled ADHD. Don’t wait for a bad grade to become a permanent record on a report card. Your child needs ACANDY Processing skills.

6. ACANDY Processing Skills: Earn an A Grade Today
There is a new learning technology called ACANDY Processing SKills, that transforms borderline students into Straight-A-Grade students. Students earn A Grades on the next test, EVERY DAY, AN EASY A.

7. Good Grades Deserve Great Rewards
When your child is doing poorly in school, your child is in pain. Punishment and fear humiliate a child. Rewards and incentives reinforce good behavior.

8. Academic Athletes Require Energy to Learn
A regular bedtime and a nutritious breakfast of oatmeal give your child the ENERGY to learn: focus, organize, listen, think, write, edit, proofread, rewrite, research, memorize, and test.
