It´s a nice microblog tool. First I follow a lot of people I do know. And we usually have a lot of interesting discussions.
Sometimes I got news from my Twitter followers. In some situations Twitter has been the fastest channel to get the news.

Now I also started to use Twitter for following interesting people.
As for today I started to follow Sonic Youth. In my Swedish blog we
post a lot of stuff about music - so it will be useful to follow good
musicians in Twitter. Today I read this message at Sonic Youth twitter place:

happy record store day! we’ve got 2 split singles out
there today. one has our version of beck’s ‘pay no mind’, the other
‘burning shame’

Nice: two singles. That´s good news.

Other people from the cultural area I follow are: Brian Eno, David Lynch, Wille Nelson and Christian Moerk.

By the way: My Twitter-account.

The Swedish Daily Dagens Nyheter
warned today about the new lifestyle: always online and messaging,
twittering, blogging and phoning. I think these stuff can be stressing.
For being a king in your life you must how to turn all this devices off
sometimes. When you choose yourself.

Another discussion in Swedish news about Twitter is whether makes
the communication between politicians and people better. One exampel is
how useful information it is no read in Twitter about how many sausages a certain politician eats one day.

A court in Sweden has jailed four men behind The Pirate Bay (TPB), the world’s most high-profile file-sharing website, in a landmark case.
Frederik Neij, Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, Carl Lundstrom and Peter Sunde

Everyone who knows about the Internet, knows that Pirate Bay is just a search engine. It´s not Pirate Bay that share files.
If Pirate Bay is guilty Google is too and the Internet.

The Local reports:

Ludvig Werner, head of the Swedish chapter of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), was jubilant:

“The court has issued a clear decision, which is that people and
companies engaged in the creative sector have a fundamental right to be
compensated for their work and protected from the copyright
infringement committed by The Pirate Bay.”

So: what is the next step? Closing YouTube, closing Google, closing
Yahoo and then closing the whole web and change it to a tv-station.

People realizes that this is the wrong way to go. Of course people
want musicians and filmproducers and authors to earn money. But the
right way is not to let everything stay as always: the business must
use modern techniques. The verdict against Pirate Bay is no solution.

I am working as web editor for the Nature Scientists in Sweden and on Tuesday I am going to broadcast a big event in Stockholm there researchers in technology and medicin will discuss about science and economy in society. The event is Stockholm Meeting:

On March 24 2009, the Swedish Association of Scientists,
together with the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences,
is organising its second Stockholm Meeting conference - from Nobel Prize®
to commercial use and improved daily life

The aim of the conference is to clarify just how important science is
in today's society and for Sweden's continued development. With the
starting point of lectures by Nobel Laureates, we take you on a journey
from research to benefit for society.

With the success of the first conference in fresh memory we are convinced that this is a much needed forum.

It is our hope that this new exciting high-quality forum will continue
to promote dialogue and the exchange of experiences between new and
established researchers, as well as between researchers, politicians
and trade and industry.

Scientific research and the discoveries that are made are intended to improve both society and
our daily life. We want this conference to be a powerful platform for demonstrating just how
much society has to gain from science.
