Happy Friday and happy Fall. The weather is changing here in Northern California and I must say, it feels good; just in time for the upcoming holiday and BlogHer parties.

Yes, I said parties! Woo hooo!!!

As I mentioned last week, San Francisco is sold out and Tres Agaves isn't going to know what hit them! If you are attending, please check out the most needed items from the San Francisco Food Bank and join us in sharing the holiday spirit with those less fortunate. P.S. If you have signed up to attend but now realize you can't make it, please let me know so we can open up space for others :))

Happy Friday the 13th - hope your day has been full of fun and LUCK!

Let's jump right in shall we...

The San Francisco holiday party is officially sold out! We now need to make an impact with our food donations! Make sure to take a peek at the most needed food list and bring an item (or two) - can't wait to see you there. :))

New York's holiday party still has a little wiggle room, so if you want to have a great time, with great people, RSVP today. We're collecting food items there too, so check out the most needed foods here.

If you are not in either city, don't worry, there might be a holiday meet up in YOUR city! If a party isn't happening already, maybe YOU can start one.

We are still accepting all ideas for BlogHer 2010 but the deadline is November 30! And as we all know, time is zipping past so get that great idea in now - afterall it is YOUR event :))

And speaking of YOUR event - registration is open open open for BlogHer '10 and it's filling up at a steady pace. Don't forget to book your hotel room too!

And last but certainly not least, in case you didn't see the tweet, the Facebook post, or Lisa's blog post, I'll give you some fabulous news here:

Happy Friday!!

Another great week with an exciting holiday announcement - TWO BlogHer parties! In true BlogHer fashion we are having fun on not one but two coasts!

San Franciscans will be celebrating at Tres Agaves and New Yorkers will be kickin' it at Pranna. To make sure your name is on the list, RSVP for the San Francisco and New York parties!

In addition to the parties, we are working with the San Francisco and New York Food Banks. The Food Banks have provided us with lists of items that are most needed now and during the holiday season - check out the lists: San Francisco Food Bank - New York Food Bank.

Of course we are still working hard on BlogHer '10 and registration is steady. In addition to attendee registration, Elisa posted our Call for Ideas and we are getting fabulous ideas and input from so many of you. If you have a great idea you have until November 30 to let us know.

Some very exciting news this week - first and foremost, Elisa announced our call for ideas for BlogHer 2010! If you did not catch the post on our RSS feed, it's right here for your convenience.

In addition to the call for ideas, Elisa explains the difference between conference sessions and Room of Your Own; she outlines what we are looking for and how to submit your ideas. The deadline is November 30, 2009 so do not delay and submit your ideas now.

Watch for a special post next week announcing the BlogHer Holiday Parties (yep, parties).

In the meantime, have a great day and a happy and safe Halloween - BOO!!!!

A Week in Review - October 2, 2009

The first annual BlogHer Food event wrapped up last Saturday in San Francisco and we all had so much fun!

Thank you to all of you who ventured west to attend - we had a great time seeing you there and can't wait for 2010! In case you missed the conference, or couldn't split yourself in two, we have all sessions on our live-blogging page - take a peek when you can.

And finally, we are proud to announce that attendees at BlogHer Food '09 donated 676 pounds of food to the San Francisco Food Bank - thank you BlogHers!

BlogHer '10 is also progressing nicely and registration continues to grow. We are excited to bring the BlogHer annual event to The Big Apple and hope you can join us for education, fun and friends. If you have already registered, don't forget to book your hotel room too.

Hello friends,

Another busy week here at BlogHer! Our focus has been getting ready for our first annual BlogHer Food Event. We have an amazing line-up of speakers, sponsors and sessions and 300 eager food bloggers ready to take over San Francisco! Registration opens at 7 a.m. - and if you haven't see the online guide - check it out!

We have special presentations by Chef Ryan Scott, Chef Rocco DiSpirito, Chef Elizabeth Falkner and Pillsbury (no, the Doughboy will not be there - sniffle sniffle). They are all ready to woo and wow us - I can't wait!

We'll also be Live-Blogging from the event so make sure to check out the what you might be missing.

BlogHer '10 is also in full swing! Registration is coming along and I predict we'll have another sell out event - so don't delay, grab your ticket now (not to mention enjoy the early bird price). And remember, the NY Hilton is taking reservations, grab those rooms before they sell out!

Welcome sweet Friday, we've been waiting for you all week! As usual, we here at BlogHer have had a busy week, here's a snapshot of what's happening in our world...

BlogHer Food - 15 days from now we will be introducing our first annual BlogHer Food event at the St. Regis in San Francisco. This event is taking shape with exciting opportunities from a few of our sponsors, The Mushroom Council and Bertolli, check 'em out and get involved!

Ahhh, Friday and woo hoo! Monday is a holiday too :-)

Another great week here at BlogHer and here are some items that are of particular interest:

BlogHer Food - we are a few short weeks from our first annual BlogHer Food and the excitement is palpable. We have an amazing line up of sponsors and an agenda to drool over not to mention the list of fabulous speakers. We are looking forward to seeing so many BlogHers so soon after such an amazing summer event.

BlogHer '09 - Yep still talking about BlogHer '09 and now the final piece of the puzzle has been put in place - audio files! Thank you Monty for all your help :-)

Another fabulous and productive week here at BlogHer and here are the highlights...

BlogHer Food - today we were able to open up the waitlist and add more bloggers for BlogHer Food! We are taking names off the waitlist in order they were received - keep an eye on your inbox!

In addition to the exciting news above we have announced all our tracks for BlogHer Food and the agenda is complete - take a peek at the day ahead.

Finally, we will have a bookstore at BlogHer Food. If you are attending or speaking and have a book you would like to have at the event, let me know and we'll work on adding it to our inventory.

The 5th annual BlogHer conference was held at the fabulous Sheraton Chicago and to say we took over the hotel is an understatement.

With nearly 1500 bloggers, 60 sessions, 160 speakers, 21 community keynoters, this was the largest BlogHer event to date! BlogHer took greater steps this year to be green with the help of the green team and enjoyed more than 40 key sponsors. We were LiveBlogging and taking video - it was everything you wanted and more under one roof. In addition to all this fabulous '09 content we announced BlogHer '10 in New York City!

So, what's BlogHer's next event?

We are always hard at work on the next BlogHer conference.

For up-to-date information on our conferences, please check our Conference Site, or sign up to receive our Conference Newsletter.

You are always welcome to participate! Here are some way in which you can join us:

-Open calls for speakers, session ideas and recommendations on same. (In other words, even if you don't want to speak, please forward us the people you would love to hear speak.)

-Room of Your Own sessions:
It's inevitable that the official BlogHer schedule will not include every topic of interest to BlogHer attendees. If you want to fill a hole, then propose a Room of Your Own session. These are sessions proposed and planned by BlogHer attendees. We provide the room, the A/V, the coffee...and the promotion. You provide the content. In 2006 we had so many Room of Your Own session proposals we put it to a community vote. The top 6 were added to the schedule. More on the Room of Your Own concept is here.

-Birds of a Feather (BOF) sessions: We set aside open time and blank clipboards and let people self-organize into groups. This post describes how we did it at BlogHer '06. Previous popular topics have ranged from "Mommies who use profanity in their blogs" to "Single bloggers" to "The Ethnorati" to "Flickr users" to "Food and Drink bloggers." Anything literally goes...you can form a group of 2 or 22 around your topic. It's a great way to break the ice and find like-minded individuals in the crowd.

-BlogHerships and volunteerism: For each conference we provide blogherships (free conference registrations) in exchange for being an official conference live-blogger. This is a great option for bloggers who could not otherwise afford to attend. Other volunteer opportunities have included graphic design, IT consulting, audio production, sponsor, speaker or volunteer "wrangling" and so on. Some people were able to add their efforts to their CV; some people were able to learn or improve their skills; some people were able to meet a posse of people they would not have connected to on their own. Everyone was able to feel like they were a part of making BlogHer happen.

-Feedback, feedback, feedback:
Here at BlogHer we throw a lot of ideas out there and see what sticks. We typically publish posts describing every single session or activity and ask what would entice you to attend it. You have the chance to share your thoughts on everything from what you would like to learn about digital photography to whether or not you're interested in a Conference Swap Meet.

If you have an opinion, we want to hear it.

LobbyCon '09 Forum

Join your Flock - Birds of a Feather '09

Welcome to Birds of a Feather '09 (BOF)!

As we did last year, BlogHer '09 will feature BOF tables hosting various topics of interest that are either a continuation of a session topic or something new! BOF will be held on both days during the lunch hour and you will be able to pick and choose which sessions interest you and you can "join your flock".

Here is the process:

On Friday when you register we will have numerous clip boards - on these clip boards we will have started a few topics but then, we will have blanks for YOU to fill in. As each person registers we will direct them to the BOF table to sign up. On Saturday we will have the clipboards out again for more sign ups so make sure to visit registration on both days.

During lunch, tables will be set up, with the appropriate signage - find a topic of interest, sit down and enjoy an unscripted conversation with like minded "birds". You should also feel free to table hop and find a conversation that stimulates your senses.

Here are a few topics from the past - add to the list, we'll have 20 tables on each day so that means 40 unique topics are available.
