A group of three passionate bloggers in Australia started up a new website called Aussie bloggers recently. It kickstarted with a forum to get interest and discussion going and the accompanying blog launched one month ago. The forum now boasts 363 members and it is a very active forum. It's not just open to Australians though, everyone is welcome and while it's mostly Australian, there are people from all over the world also.

Web Directions South 2007 conference

I didn't make it to BlogHer this year but I did manage to get to Sydney for the Web Directions South conference last week. There were some great speakers, some great people and I had four childfree days. Bliss! Read more about it here and here. I plan to do a couple more posts about it too, so check back in over the next few days.

A way of getting some inspiration for writing is to join group writing projects. Usually the people holding the group writing projects offer prizes which is always a drawcard for me. It's a win-win situation all round because: - you get to write material for your blog - you have a chance to win prizes - you get the potential for additional readers when your link is posted on the host's blog - they also get more readers due to the project.

On the weekend I went on a mini-holiday with my six year old son. It had taken five years to get over the last holiday via plane with him. We have travelled to destinations via car, but getting to a destination by plane changes the dynamic. For a start there's less space to pack things you may need. See how it turned out.

Should you get your own domain?

My relationship with blogging has reached the next level. I talked a while back about my blog being almost the longest relationship I've ever had. We had a talk, my blog and I, and we decided that it deserved its own domain name, that it had been far too long living with Typepad's name. Off we went to GoDaddy and registered www.semanticallydriven.com.
