ABC's freshman sci-fi shows, "Flash Forward" and "V" have been missing in action since before Christmas. Since "Flash Forward" returns with a two-hour relaunch tonight and "V" returns on March 30, let's take a look back, shall we?

When you think of the TV show "24," do you think of a testosterone-heavy guy show with lots of things that go boom? Well, yeah, it is that -- but "24" has also had some kick-ass women. Star Kiefer Sutherland is of course the linchpin of the show. He plays counterterrorism expert Jack Bauer, a guy who'll do just about anything for king and country -- or rather, president and Congress.

Hollywood's biggest night is just days away, and the question on everyone's lips in Tinseltown is, "How the hell are we going to get through the night with ten Best Picture nominations!? That's right, ladies and gents, in case you've forgotten, when it came to Best Picture nomination, this year the Academy instituted the emergency "Dark Knight rule."

NBC's new family drama "Parenthood" may actually get me back to watching the Peacock Network on a regular basis. First, because it brings Lorelai Gilmore herself, the delightfully talented Lauren Graham, back to TV; and second, because after watching a preview of the pilot, I found I liked it.  It had just enough humor to keep me chuckling and just enough drama to make me care.

When you look at the title of this post, you might think, "Hmm, which of the many women nominated for Best Director should have won the Academy Award?" When I was in college trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, I dabbled in writing.  I wanted to be a writer, but I was afraid to be a writer.  Afraid to make mistakes, afraid to show my work, afraid to put anything down on paper that might expose too much of who I was. Then I read the mystery novel Reflex, by Dick Francis.

There's a scene in The Devil Wears Prada where Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, comes upon her boss Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep. Miranda is sitting at home in a robe, lacking makeup and her usual fashion industry 'tude.  She's just discovered her marriage is over and although clearly devastated, she struggles to maintain her pride, her arrogance and her grand, Miranda Priestly-ness.

Is director James Cameron's "Avatar" a visually stunning film that's not to be taken more seriously than an afternoon's entertainment at your local multiplex, or is it another in a long line of films illustrating Hollywood's racial insensitivity?Let me get back to that.

All right Losties, it's here! The moment we've all been waiting for -- the return of "Lost" for its 6th and final season beginning February 2nd on ABC at 8/7c.In honor of the big event, I thought it was the perfect time to review where we've been before we move forward.  Or backward, depending on what the island is doing.

This NBC Leno/O'Brien late night brouhaha is better than "All My Children" in its heyday.  It's got everything:
