BlogHer 08

The answer to the question I posed in my last Toddler Planet post is just as I had (not-so) secretly hoped. There is no one BlogHer. BlogHers -- and women who blog -- come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. BlogHers have different accents, different backgrounds, and different perspectives. BlogHers have different interests. Some of us are mommybloggers. Some of us are techbloggers. Some blog about personal finance, and some blog about infertility. Some blog their life

Strength in Numbers

There are few more terrifying moments in a woman's life than hearing the words, "You have cancer."  Yet every day, mothers around the world perch on an exam table in a thin paper gown, listen to these words, and their hearts sink.  What will happen to them now?  What will happen to their children?  Is there treatment available, and will it work?  Will the treatment itself be so disabling that someone else will have to care for their children?

Beautiful books for young children

by whymommy at 9:58pm Mon, 13 Aug 2007 under Mommy & Family, Books, books, children
I just read the most amazing book for young children. It's called Miss Rumphius, and it was written by Barbara Cooney. I just fell in love with Miss Rumphius, and I can't believe I'd never heard of this book before! What are the most beautiful books that you love reading to your little ones? I'm looking for very special books, beautifully illustrated, with words that resonate and are pleasing to read, over and over again. Bonus points for a positive, inspiring message. Would love to hear your favorites (for kids 3-6) in the comments.

Live from the (virtual) BlogHer Conference in Second Life!

This is amazing. Although in reality, I am at home, in bed, in pain (and in my pajamas), I am still able to attend the BlogHer Conference virtually using this program called Second Life. They’re streaming audio this morning while the attendees sit in chairs. Soon we will get up and walk around and “talk” to each other, making connections and renewing friendships that we’ve made through blogging. I am so enamoured with this technology.

BlogHer in Second Life

I can't go to BlogHer this year. So when I heard about the opportunity to participate via Second Life, I was thrilled. Mind you, I'd never BEEN to Second Life before, and only heard a little about it. But I REALLY had been looking forward to the conference, so I decided to give it a shot.
