BlogHer Boston kicks off bright and early on October 11, 2008. This is the place to find the liveblogs, which will be posted shortly after the sessions end. Check back often as the links go live! * * * * * * *
So, a funny thing happened on the way to posting audio tracks from BlogHer '08, our annual blow-out this past July in San Francisco. Namely: I didn't. Mea culpa, my bad, I apologize! Here are a bunch of audio files, and i think we still have some more coming from our kind, generous event partner, ListenShare. (You may know them as Stephanie and James, and they've been there with their handy audio gear at most of our recent conferences.) You can find their site with these links here.
UPDATED: I got the links for the Closing Keynote, Living the Truman Show, from Katy this afternoon, so I've added them below. It is in 8 segments on YouTube. This post is just one big link-fest, mostly to point you to all the video taken by our official conference videographer, Katy Chen. To fill in the blanks on the Community Keynote I've also included links to some of Gena Haskett and Elaine from Wannabe Hippie's videos. At the end you will find a link to the videos you all submitted yourselves at the CNN iReport table.
==UPDATE: OK, the poll has been closed. With thousands of votes between the post-conference survey and this poll, I think we're all set. Thanks you so much everyone, not only for your votes, but also for the awesome civic pride on display in these comments :) The leading contenders are: Philadelphia Portland St. Louis
Just a quick reminder that you can still find all our conference information for BlogHer '08 (and BlogHer Business 08, and BlogHer '07...) by clicking on the Conferences tab and selecting "Past Conferences" in the left column. Here's the direct link:
First part of the 1st ever BlogHer Community Keynote. Eden Kennedy curated Friday night's live blog readings. More will be posted, either in the comments section or at
At last year's BlogHer conference, I loved the mommyblogging sessions. They were full of spirited, lively and intelligent discussions. And the session I attended Friday morning was no exception. The question for all of these women...Is MommyBlogging still a radical act? Moderated by Lindsay Ferrier, the panelists were: Polly Pagenhart (Lesbian Dad), Maria (Immoral Matriarch), and Charlene Li (Forrester's Groundswell and also blogs at I didn't ID
Watch the space below as we continually update the links with live-blogs from each of the BlogHer '08 sessions! * * * * * * * Day One - July 18, 2008 Break-Out Session #1 Who We Are: Introversion, Blogging and BlogHer What We Do: Taking Care of Business
If you're headed to the BlogHer Conference tomorrow and didn't happen to catch it in your inbox OR if you're not attending but want to know what's goin' on, you are invited to download the BlogHer '08 Conference Brochure. Click on the link or right-click to save the file:
What would the BlogHer annual conference be without some proper blog bling? UPDATE THE SECOND: This just in for those of you who ARE coming to the conference (and whose blog posts might temporarily suffer for it), we offer: Code: Sure, the first order of business is was actually registering. And then it'd be awesome if you'd like to add yourself it was cool that so many of you added yourselves to our ever-growing roster of attendees. But even if you haven't gotten never got around to these first steps (ahem, tick tock), it's never too early to you can always add BlogHer '08 badge beauty to your blog. We've worked up our Official "I'm Going!" and "I'm Speaking" buttons for you again this year. But we've also added a few more "personal" buttons to the mix. (You're doing what at BlogHer?) UPDATE THE FIRST: And for those of you who can't be with us in person, but who will be following along via live-blogs, check after the jump for a button just for you! Check 'em out:
For a very lucky 300 BlogHer '08 attendees, the conference doesn't end with a wild Saturday night at Macy's. Nope, 300 stalwart attendees will get up and go to the BlogHer '08 OpenSpace all day Sunday, led by last year's facilitator, Kaliya Hamlin.
So, jumping on the bandwagon with the community's and Maria Niles's phenomenal guides to surviving BlogHer, I thought I would add one appropriate for the 1) sponsors, 2) networking non-bloggers, or 3) corporate bloggers trying to meet bloggers. All this stuff about introversion and wearing the right shoes seem irrelevant to you?
As you probably know, BlogHer in real life is sold out, make that waaaay sold out with a long waiting list. Now, there will be live blogs, and shortly post-conference there will be session podcasts. But if you're hoping for something a little more participatory, you still have time to register for BlogHer in Second Life.
Remember when we opened up two tracks of open slots for the community to schedule in topic-based Birds of a Feather meet-ups and community-driven Room of Your Own sessions? OK, this might refresh your memory! Those slots filled up pretty quickly, but since I'm not sure you all go check the agenda obsessively (you don't? really?) I thought I'd announce the final line-up.
It's true. This week BlogHer Co-Founder Elisa Camahort announced the Community Keynote selections for BlogHer '08 in San Francisco, and we're certainly not going to allow our Second Life attendees to just "watch" all the fun. The Second Life version of this year's BlogHer conference will participate in the First Ever "Community Keynote" event.
Updated: As per Miriam's comment below, the event is now full. Thanks for your enthusiastic response! If you're registered for BlogHer '08 and interested in attending a lunch with Rocco DiSpirito -- where he'll be offering samples of some great new Bertolli products -- sign up now! But please note: seats are extremely limited, so please note the official "rules." Details can be found here, including how to RSVP ASAP!
Yes, just under the wire, I am here to announce the BlogHer Community Keynote line-up. What to say about an idea that prompted hundreds of posts to come flooding in? How about: We better do this again! And how about: A heartfelt thanks to our selection committee: Alice from finslippy Debbie from Body Impolitic Heather from NoPasaNada Jessica from Oh the Joys! Mona from Kirida Kristy Sammis and Denise Tanton from BlogHer And, of course, the woman who proposed the idea in the first place, Eden Kennedy from Fussy.
Are you an artist, crafter, writer, DIY-er (or many of the above) looking to sell your BlogHerrific wares? Come sign up for the BlogHer '08 Swap Meet! Interested in purchasing some homemade goodies? Please stop by. If you're not sure what the Swap Meet is all about, read Jen's fabulous Call for Artists here. Then get the details below... When: Saturday, July 19
Almost all of the rooms in the BlogHer room block at the Westin St. Francis are sold out. But now, thanks to our friends at Kimpton, BlogHer attendees can still get special rates at hotels within just a few blocks of the Conference.
Everything you need to know before you go, now in one handy guide! Thanks to your great questions and feedback (See Advice You Shared), this downloadable guide features: frequently asked questions, tips for how to prepare, what to expect, and advice from former BlogHer attendees.
If you've been holding off on registering for BlogHer '08, now is most definitely the time to act. We've been tracking BlogHer registrations, and today was, for some reason, a tremendously active day. Which means we are planning to shut down new registrations tomorrow, July 2nd at 6PM Pacific time. So, no joke and no scare tactic: The next 24 hours are it for BlogHer registrations. Please join us, and join us quickly!!
The BlogHer Bookstore & Internet Cafe, brought to you by iRobot, will be selling titles from authors within the BlogHer Community. Along with an espresso bar, wifi and charging stations, the bookstore will feature author book-signings -- so be sure to stop by! The schedule is below.
UPDATED: Please note that childcare registration will remain open until all spaces are filled. There's still a few open spaces, so we encourage you to sign up asap! BlogHer is pleased to announce that, following a comprehensive search, we have agreed to partner with KiddieCorp to provide on-site childcare on both Friday and Saturday of the event (July 18 and July 19). KiddieCorp comes highly recommended, and we're confident that they will offer attendees' children a safe and fun experience.
The BlogHer in Second Life conference is excited to offer a new twist to this year's festivities- not only can you blog about your experience, but you are also encouraged to submit an iReport to Oh, but that is NOT all! is offering some amazing training sessions for BlogHers: Tuesday, July 1, 2 p.m. SLT/5 p.m. ET - SL iReporting 101 Tuesday, July 8, 2 p.m. SLT/5 p.m. ET - Avatar photojournalism Tuesday, July 15, 2 p.m. SLT/5 p.m. ET - Virtual world newsgathering How amazing is that???!!!!
Amongst all the amazing schwag in your BlogHer '08 conference tote, be on the lookout for something very cool - the BlogHer laptop sticker, courtesy of Sticker Giant! These were printed with 2 Pantone color matches on a laminated vinyl stock, and are extremely easy to remove if need be (I should say move, not remove. We can't think of any reason why you would want to remove it!).
We've seen blogging impact an election, raise money for causes, and provide needed information- and that is just the tip of the iceberg. On Saturday, July 19th from 1:45pm-3:00pm, BlogHer in Second Life will present it's fourth and final Second Life - exclusive session: Using Second Life For Good BlogHer Co-Founder Elisa Camahort Page has put together a stellar panel of women using Second Life to impact the real world. Session speakers include:
We're wrapping up the first official Pre-Conference Attendee guide (which will be sent to all those who have registered for the conference), full of information about how to prepare and what to expect at BlogHer '08. But we thought -- hey, why not ask YOU what YOU think? What advice do you have for the newbies? What advice do you have for the veterans? What do you wish someone had told you before you showed up for your first BlogHer Conference? And if this is your first time attending, what is it you wish you could know ahead of time?
We know how you like to party. But do YOU know how many opportunities you'll have this year to rock on wichyo bad selves? Let us count the ways...
As of this afternoon, we have closed registration for Sunday's OpenSpace event -- we are at capacity! Thank you to all who have registered for the upcoming BlogHer '08 Conference. Your response has been tremendous and we're looking forward to seeing you all soon.
UPDATED: All Room of Your Own slots are currently taken, so if you're interested in being put on the waiting list Email Elisa and let her know. Last week I announced BlogHer Meet-up, Birds of a Feather and Room of Your Own opportunities at BlogHer '08 this summer.
Yes, you need to register in order to attend BlogHer '08 in Second Life! Registration is now open and we are expecting a full conference, so please get your name on the list ASAP. You can register to attend here.
By now, we hope that you've registered for the BlogHer '08 conference in San Francisco. As Elisa pointed out last week, we're almost sold out (so please register soon if you haven't!).
I am very pleased to announce BlogHer will again be offering a way for you to participate in BlogHer '08 if you can't make it to the annual conference. BlogHer '08 in Second Life is free, lets you see the keynotes live from San Francisco, and all you need to do is download Second Life and let the BlogHer team help get you comfortable in a virtual world.
As of today, we are six weeks away from the beginning of BlogHer '08 on Friday, July 18th. And we have only 150 slots open for registration. That may sound like a lot, but at the rate registration has been going in the last couple of weeks I can safely say that we will once again sell out, and it could happen more than a couple of weeks before the event starts.
Calling all photo enthusiasts! Grab your cameras and put on your walking shoes, it’s time for BlogHer’s first ever PhotoWalk, brought to you by the Shutter Sisters, and taking place immediately following the BlogHer '08 Photography session on Saturday afternoon, July 19th, from 3:15-4:30PM. If interested, just meet outside the meeting room where the Photography session concludes at 3PM on Saturday.
