BlogHer Conference '06 News
Update #1: BlogHer registration is officially closed
Yes, it's official. We have officially sold every last ticket to be had and have shut down online registration. If you have had a change in plans and need to sell your pass, or if you know someone who desperately wants a pass, I suggest the BlogHer Conference '06 Forums. Thanks to you all!!
Update #2: Three more days to win a FREE trip to BlogHer 2007! All you have to do is write a story...
[img_assist|fid=874|thumb=1|alt=OUrStory logo] BlogHer Conference '06 sponsor OurStory will stop taking entries for its vacation story writing contest tomorrow July 24th. As a reminder: all entries will be stripped of the submitter's name and given to a panel of judges which includes our own Lisa Stone (who blogs about it here on BlogHer and here on OurStory.
The grand prize is (drum roll, please) an all-expenses paid trip to BlogHer '07!!! Don't forget, the contest only runs through July 27th because they're going to announce the winner at BlogHer '06 at the beginning of the MommyBlogging is a Radical Act! session! So, submit your story today.
Update #3: A few words about security
[img_assist|fid=796|thumb=1|alt=Ethernet Cable] Our volunteer Tech Guru JC Dill is not only making sure your Internet experience is a smooth one at the conference, she took the time to write a series of posts explaining what network security does and does not exist in a conference-type situation. I know I found it educational. Check out all the links here.
Update #4: Let's Talk About the Weather
[img_assist|fid=625|thumb=1|alt=Yoga] If you've been to Northern California much you know that our weather is, um, never boring. Today, and I kid you not, the temperature hit 105 degrees. Very unusual for this area. Fear not, the temperature will be dropping. Read all about the extended forecast and our recommendations for clothing and other weather-related accoutrements here.
Update #5: Oh, yeah, the swap meet is on!!
[img_assist|fid=800|thumb=1|alt=Balloons]We made a decision on how to handle the proposed BlogHer Conference Swap Meet. Whether you're buying or selling check it all out at this post, and be sure to leave a comment if you're planning to sell.
Update #6: More BlogHer '06 Session Discussions
If you've been following the online discussions about our coming BlogHer '06 sessions, don't miss the new ones posted this week, including the Next Level Naked session, the Identity & Obligation session, the Political Blogging session and the 10 Types of Web Writing session. Join in and let it be known what you'd like to learn in each of these sessions.
Update #7: A Quiet Space at BlogHer
[img_assist|fid=1109|thumb=1|alt=Lilies] We've had a few requests for a "Quiet Space"...mostly coming from breastfeeding mothers, but also for those looking for a space in which to hold a simple, virtual memorial for a blogger who died a couple of weeks ago. We've set aside that space, and you can learn more about it here.
See you in San Jose in a mere four days!
Best,
Elisa, Jory and Lisa
