Hard to believe, but BlogHer '07 is now just about two weeks away! We have news, news, news, including a call for volunteers, an update on hotels, a reminder about the deadline to sign up for childcare, and yes, the unveiling of our mystery celebrity guest, and what she'll be doing at the Saturday night cocktail party!
Update #1: BlogHer Wants You!
[img_assist|fid=665|thumb=1|alt=Volunteer Hands] It's just over two weeks from the conference, and we could use a few more volunteers. There are a variety of roles, some intensive enough that they earn a BlogHership (or free conference pass.) A couple that are lighter and just need a friendly and experienced BlogHer for a couple hours on the first day. Check out this post for the details about what we're looking for and how to submit yourself.
Update #2: There are still hotel rooms in Chicago
[img_assist|fid=3136|thumb=1|alt=W Lobby] Although the room situation in Chicago is definitely tight, all is not lost. There's even still rooms at the hostel for only $32 a night! Not to mention you can squeeze into the W, if you like things a teensy bit more upscale. how do I know all this? Why, because Kristy told me so. So, I'd definitely make those hotel reservations this week if you haven't already, but at least you know they can be made.
Update #3: Childcare deadline is this Friday!
[img_assist|fid=629|thumb=1|alt=Childcare] We're proud to be one of the few conferences (and probably the only geeky conference) out there that offers not only on-site childcare, but heavily subsidized childcare, for its participants. This is possible due to three things: BlogHer's tireless childcare advocate, Grace Davis, our wonderful childcare provider, Corporate Kids Events and our wonderful childcare sponsors, Vicks and PBS Kids, without whom this would be much less affordable. How do I know this? Because Grace told me so!
Update #4: Super-secret mystery guest revealed
As I mentioned, Saturday's Thank-You reception will be hosted by Gold Sponsor, Dove. Dove is also bringing a little fashion celebrity our way, in the form of Project Runway's Season 2 winner, Chloe Dao!!
I know!
So, what will Chloe be doing? She will be reliving her Project Runway days by helping attendees design their own sleeveless tees, providing various embellishments and patterns for everyone's use. She'll provide fashion advice and guidance while you're manning the glue gun, and she'll also sign your tees, if you like.
Lest you think we're only star-struck, we're also thrilled that, for every blogger in attendance who goes sleeveless, Dove will be donating $1 to Uniquely ME!, the Girl Scout/Dove self-esteem program.
And lucky Stacy Squirrel (not, she assures me, her real last name) is the proud recipient of an extra free drink ticket from us for guessing the correct celebrity guest first two weeks ago.
