BlogHer '08: Hostelling Option Now Available
by KristySFThe room block at the Westin St. Francis is just about completely booked. For those of you searching for other options, we wanted to let you know that we have secured a few beds at a nearby hostel. Check out the San Francisco Downtown Hostel.
It's located less than a block from the Westin St. Francis (seriously -- see the map here), where the conference is taking place. It's right in the heart of downtown, in a well trafficked, safe area, one block from Union Square itself, and super affordable:
You can reserve a "dorm" bed for $29/night, or your own private room for $90/night.
The room rate includes tax, continental breakfast, linens and towels.
All reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and are limited in number. Each "dorm" room comes with four beds, and we have secured only four rooms (16 beds total). We have only been able to secure three private rooms in addition, so these will fill up right away!
To make your reservation, please call the front desk of HI-SF Downtown at 415-788-5604 and be sure to tell them you are with the BlogHer group.

Problems as well...
I got passed around between quite a few people before ending up back with the reservation desk. Instead of telling them that I was with BlogHer, I just inquired about the dates I wanted. Turns out there were plenty of regular rooms (including private ones) without the discount. I just went ahead and reserved it to be safe. I'm sure they'll get things figured out soon, but I wasn't going to wait, as this was my last option! It was very affordable.

My apologies for the confusion. The Hostel tells me they have fixed the problem and it's all worked out now.

I reserved online and didn't see anywhere to mention I was with BlogHer. I sent them an e-mail alerting them to this. Should I do something else Kristy?
I was wondering if anyone out there was interested in trying to room together at hostel. Either way, so glad to hear others are taking advantage of this option - I'll be there!
