BlogHer '08: Hotel Room Update
by Kristy Sammis

No, BlogHer isn't requiring spooning this year at our annual conference in San Francisco.

For those of you who are concerned about the bed situation at the Westin St. Francis, rest assured (as it were) that reserving rooms with two double beds IS an option. If you tried to reserve a room with two beds and got an error message, this was due to a glitch in the Westin's system that has been resolved. If you have already reserved a room and got a single instead of a double and would like to request a double, you may call to let them know: (866) 379-0399.

Now, the Westin has stipulated that room types can never be absolutely, 100% guaranteed, but they have also assured us that all room requests will likely be honored.

So if you'd like to go ahead and make your reservation now, you can do so by clicking here. Reminder that the event is taking place starting bright and early on Friday morning, July 18 and concluding on Sunday afternoon, July 20.

And spooning is entirely optional. :)

Temporary Roommates?

Is there a way for attendees to pair up, split a room with two doubles? If I'm able to go, it will be sans kids and husband, so would be game to have a roommate for a few days, splitting the cost of the room.

Is there somewhere on BlogHer's site--message board, etc.--where I could find others interested in this? Thanks.

Absolutely

I see you posted in our Forums, which is the right place to go if you're looking for a roomie in SF.

For others who are interested, here is the direct link.

And don't worry if you're the only one so far...we will be making many announcements promoting this forum over the coming months!

two beds?

I just tried to reserve a room. The only option was 1 double bed. I couldn't reserve a king or 2 doubles using the online reservation form.

So it looks like the error may be back?

Reservations Issue?

Hi Becky,

Could you please let me know what days you were trying to register for, and/or how many people you selected for those nights (feel free to email me directly)? I just tried the site myself and couldn't replicate the problem -- it gave me a king and two doubles as an option.

Thanks!

"not available"

Kristy,

It lets me choose two beds, but when I click search after choosing the bed type, on the next page -- in red-- it tells me that option isn't available. I was trying Thurs - Mon.

I went back and tried again,

I went back and tried again, using Sunday instead of Monday. That seems okay. I guess it's just not available Sunday night.

I thought I had tried several different dates & beds (king, two doubles, etc.) previously, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the heads up Becky, we'll check
tomorrow

Kristy (and BlogHer in general) is taking MLK Jr. Day as a holiday, so kristy will be back to look into this tomorrow.

Booked already?

trying to book for 7/18 to 7/21 but it says nothing is available with 2 doubles or 1 king.

Is that a glitch or are they already all booked up?

okay it finally worked but it's not a friendly system.

Nothing is left but one double bed

I just got off the phone with the Westin Hotel and they have nothing left at our rate except "very small rooms with one double bed."  They can't put a cot in there because of fire regulations.  I was also asked not to fill out the reservation survey because "it's not the reservation clerk's fault."

She was very nice, but she was frantic lest I rate my reservation experience badly.  My goodness.

Just to let you all know!  We're spooning after all!

Well, rats

Looks like there's no con rates for 2 double beds left. :( I suppose it's still cheaper to room w/ someone at the full rate rather than do the con rate as a single ($50 less a night)
