UPDATE 7/16/11 - You are in luck!  The Call for Volunteers has reopened

We have found that we are requiring additional needs and help for all of the fantastic events we are hosting at this year's BlogHer '11.  We are in need of Mic Wranglers and Registration Desk help.  There are not many spaces available so please let us know by Wednesday, July 20th, if you are interested.

Please note that there is a mandatory volunteer training on Thursday, August 4th, at 1:00pm where you will receive the necessary training for your role and your pass for the Conference.

Don’t delay -– apply now for a BlogHership.

*******************************************************************************************************************

We are proud to announce this year's Call for Volunteers for BlogHer '11 in San Diego, CA! Each year, BlogHer offers very few highly coveted BlogHerships in exchange for being a conference volunteer. Volunteer opportunities include working the registration desk and mic wrangling. You may see that we have eliminated the Live Blogging positions. This year, we have decided to go a different direction, but we will have the same number of BlogHerships still available.

What is a BlogHership, you ask?

BlogHerships are a way for people who cannot afford the conference pass to a BlogHer event to still attend. BlogHerships are always volunteer positions at the conferences. If we are asking for a significant amount of your time, effort or elbow grease to get something done at the conference, then we will compensate you with a full conference pass. All BlogHerships are designed to cover the $300 registration fee only, and do not include travel expenses. Below are the two volunteer positions and their descriptions that can earn a BlogHership, and therefore a full conference pass.

Mic Wranglers: We won't require long legs or ballerina-esque moves, but Mic Wranglers will need to maneuver through rooms to deliver the microphone to attendees who want to make their voices heard. This task is especially important because it also affects audio recordings, so you'll need to be quick as a flash. Or at least quick-ish. The estimated time commitment is two sessions (2.5 hours) per day.

Registration Desk Helpers: This job encompasses more than being a friendly face -- Registration Desk Helpers have the critical task of coordinating check-in for more than 3,600 attendees, providing badges, tote bags and maps, answering a myriad of questions and being a general know-it-all (or at least knowing where to find the answers). The estimated time commitment is three (3) hours per day.

All volunteers are expected to attend a volunteer training on Thursday, August, 4th, at 1:00PM at the San Diego Convention Center.

Submissions are due by Wednesday, July 20th.  We will notify all applicants of their status as they apply.  Don’t delay -– apply now for a BlogHership.

Hi there! Any chance on when you might let people know if they are accepted for the second round of blogherships? I'm just worried if I make the travel plans, don't get accepted and the conference tickets run out in the meantime, I'll have really nice trip to San Diego planned with no way into the conference! Thanks!

Come visit me at Sunday Baker! http://comeandpeek.blogspot.com/ ( http://www.sundaybaker.net )

What a neat opportunity! One of these years I am going to attend. It's tough being so far away from it all. I want to meet some fellow bloggers!

Elisa is right - either way you will have fun. Last year I volunteered and I had a lot of fun. It was wonderful getting to meet much more people.

Maybe next year I can apply. This is my first conference so maybe it is better that I don't try to work/volunteer at it but just sit back and enjoy?
