From Rescues to Rockstars, the Furry Fashionistas of BlogHer '12!

I can still remember the first time I saw my dog Molly. It was August 29th, 2006. She was in pretty rough shape, with some medical issues that needed attention (and let's face it, money), but as soon as her paws hit the floor, she was like a toy who had been newly wound up. Goofy and playful, running all over the place, jumping up and trying to give kisses. And she opened up a place in my heart that I never knew existed before (and yes, I realize what a cheesy line that is, but it doesn't make it any less true). I think that's the beautiful thing about adopting a pet. That symbiotic relationship. You may be rescuing them, but they rescue you right back, in their own way. ...more

What I Learned by NOT Going to BlogHer 12

When BlogHer 12 was in full swing, so were the Olympics and I logged onto Twitter to follow the Olympic tweets.  That's when I started seeing all my BlogHer Chatter peeps tweeting about the goings-on at the conference, and I got bedazzled by what I was missing. ...more

We're Reading What You're Writing About BlogHer '12

It may not come as a shock to you, but bloggers love to write. So when you gather a bunch of bloggers together for a big conference, they're going to write about their experiences. (I know, duh, right?) Our BlogHer '12 attendees have been writing up a storm since they got home from the conference, sharing their highs and lows, their great pics and their "I think that looks like Sparklecorn because of all the glowsticks" iPhone shots. We've been reading along, laughing and crying, making notes for next year and years to come. We've been hearing you, BlogHer '12 attendees. And we want others to hear you too....more

Some Thoughts on Voices of the Year

Whenever anyone new to the BlogHer annual conference has asked for a description of the Voices of the Year Community Keynote, I resort to saying something like, "It's the beating heart of the conference." And then I add, "And also its funny bone." Then, "Okay, and also its conscience." It may sound hyperbolic, but I wind up saying that the Voices of the Year Community Keynote is nothing less than an in-person demonstration of why so many of us bother to read and write blogs....more

What Were Your BlogHer '12 Moments?

Reflecting on my BlogHer experience in New York City this year, I realized that my conference was filled with a lot of little moments that created a bigger picture of the event. As we read through all of your important post-conference posts, I wondered if others here at BlogHer had a moment this year that really defined the conference for them, that they will look back on and think, "Oh yes, that happened at BlogHer '12. Of course they did. I asked a few staff members who in one way or another shaped your conference this year to share their moment in hopes of inspiring our members to share their moment. This is what they had to say....more

Watch Our First Ever BlogHer Fashion Show!

You may have heard the "Whoop!" that went 'round the world on Saturday night in New York City, when 21 stylish -- and styling -- bloggers took the runway by storm at BlogHer '12. Truly fantastic fashion looks were on display, from sponsors 6PM and canine clothier Pet Smart (pretty pooches had their moment, too), but what really made the audience's eyes sparkle was the joy, confidence and pride beaming from our walkers, spreading like wildfire into the audience....more
