How to make your submission stand out

Last year, we received more than three times as many submissions in the '12 Call for Ideas than ever before! Interest is at an all time high, so to help make your submission stand out in the growing crowd this year, we suggest you consider:

Freshness: Find a brand new topic to bring to the table. We know that's a challenge, but we know you're up to it! Blogging and Social Media is ever-evolving, and we want to cover the latest and greatest ideas, tools, methods and madness out there.

Originality: Take a brand new twist on an old favorite topic. Some topics are evergreen, and we want to find the most creative, interesting, and original ways to bring them to the community.

Diversity: Mix it up! The BlogHer community is rich in diversity of lifestyle, socio-economic level, geography, orientation, race/ethnicity, culture, ideology, age, political stance, and religious faith. BlogHer is the conference for everyone, and we want everyone represented on our stages.

Specifics: Tell us how, why, and what. Avoid generalizations -- even if you (or the person you're submitting) really believe you'd be great for any panel at all, tell us specifically what you'd be best at. Use the fields provided to show your expertise and blog authority. We've left a lot of space for you to provide links to posts and videos you'd created...use it!

Takeaways: Your story is interesting, maybe even inspiring on its own, but providing actionable takeaways for everyone else has real impact. We want to know that you can share not only what you accomplished, but how you accomplished it.
