The BlogHer '13 Party Plan: Kicking off on Thursday, July 25th!

BlogHer Original Post

This year marks the ninth annual Blogher conference, and the fourth year since we introduced the "community parties" back in 2010. As BlogHer grew we introduced the community parties, and we continue to support them for two reasons: To make sure there are always fun evening events to which every attendee is invited and to provide a way for attendees to connect with their various tribes in a more informal and fun setting.

Party Plan

Like everything we do, we are committed to seeking community input and featuring fresh voices, so in preparation for BlogHer '13 we decided to refresh the community parties by issuing a Call for Parties (similar to our Call for Ideas for conference sessions). We got great proposals from those who've done this before, and from some new voices representing new tribes. You'll see both represented as we bring our party plan to life over the next few days. Because, you see, parties are fun, and we want to spread the fun out and announce each night's party plan on its own, so you can really revel in each night's individual charms!

Today we are proud to announce our Thursday evening roster of events.

Thursday, July 25th is all about: Welcoming you to BlogHer '13!

6 - 9 p.m.: Evening at the Expo, at the McCormick Place Expo Hall

In 2011, and as a result of your feedback that "there isn't enough time to visit and talk to sponsors between sessions," we launched Evening at the Expo. This is a time for YOU to engage with our sponsors without losing valuable session time. We are hosting lite fare and beverages, so don't miss this amazing opportunity!

8 - 10 p.m.: The Share and Be Shared Welcome Reception on the McCormick Place Concourse

Migrate from the Expo Hall out onto the Concourse where you'll see stations where you'll be able to share moments throughout the conference and check out everyone else's moments. Pictures, art, messages...we'll start building a visual representation of the BlogHer experience on Thursday night (and keep it going until Saturday night). And then, we'll hop on our shuttle buses and come on back to the Sheraton, because that's not all...

10p.m. - 12 a.m.: The 7th Annual People's Party

Thursday night will close at the Chicago Sheraton, our host hotel, with the 7th annual People's Party, corraled by Megan Jordan and Katie York. The People's Party is about both the tribed and the tribeless. It's about all of us coming together. It's about Power to the People...and that means all the people, no matter your blogging topic, level of experience, or community.

That's Thursday night...before the main conference even officially starts! Watch for the Friday and Saturday night announcements in the coming days.

Until our next announcement...
