A BlogHer, Ashleigh Burroughs, was shot alongside Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) in Tucson yesterday in an incident that killed six people and wounded 13 others. Ashleigh survived the shooting, as her daughter, "Little Cuter" reports on her blog today:

"As most of you probably know by now, my mom attended the Congress on your Corner event yesterday at her local Safeway. Just as she reached the front of the line to shake Ms. Gifford's hand a gunman appeared and began shooting with an automatic weapon. My mom was shot three times.

"That's a sentence I never thought I'd have to type.

"Right this very minute my mom is in the ICU with her leg in a traction. She suffered a wound to her left chest, one to her abdomen, and a third to her right hip. She is incredibly lucky that none of her organs were hit, even though one of the bullet's entry wounds was in her abdomen. She has been taken care of by some fantastic and proficient doctors and nurses, and a wonderful social work team."

Ashleigh's family is asking us for "healing vibes" so I wanted to invite everyone to take two minutes, head over to her blog and leave a love note. Thanks.

Best,
Lisa

I went over to Ashleigh's blog to send her my best wishes and let her and her family know that I am praying for her complete recovery.

It was a very tragic event that could have happened anywhere. I feel more needs to be done in this countryto address the need for better mental health diagnosis, care and follow up supervision.

 Warm Regards,

Pat

Tucson is a wonderful place. All of us here in Tucson can talk about that even if we are not comfortable jumping into the whirling vortex of media coverage of the mass murder.

Are you in the Tucson BlogHer Meet-Up Group? I would like to get us together. I know all this will change some of how I blog.

I'm here in Tucson, but have not met a/b in person. If/when we hear anything on this end will share. There are others more connected to a/b, but I'm not sure if they're here.

Is she doing ok? What can local folks (in Tucson) do to help? Anything? Still sending love and light.

But can't help being pleased and totally unsurprised that an active blogger and BlogHer was out participating in local government. Unthinkable that something like this could happen as a result, of course, but all the same, I found it fitting that she was there.

Glad to hear she is getting better.

That a fellow BlogHer was also there reminds us how small the world's become, that we are all connected. At least that's what it makes me recall.

I cannot believe how fortunate Ashleigh was. I've left a message for the family asking whether there's anything else we can do, as the "healing vibes" roll in... more as I have it.
