BlogHer Book Club Reviewer Badge

BlogHer is thrilled to be collaborating with Penguin Group USA to bring you reviews of great upcoming books, author interviews, book discussions and much more! They’re all part of our BlogHer Book Club. What's exciting about this partnership: BlogHer is paying writers to write balanced, editorial reviews of the BlogHer Book Club featured titles, participate in book club discussions and bring exposure to these titles. And now we're opening up our reviewer waiting list to everyone -- whether or not you're a member of the BlogHer Publishing Network, or even if you’re not yet a registered member of BlogHer.com.

Reviewers

I'm recruiting reviewers from our list of excellent writers -- and now that list is expanding. Each reviewer will receive a copy of the book and be paid to write and publish her editorial opinion of the book on BlogHer.com for community discussion. We're excited about the diversity of opinions and perspectives we can bring to Penguin's catalog of books.

Books

We firmly believe that there is a perfect book out there for everyone. BlogHer and Penguin are working together to select a few books a month that will speak to you, our community. We'll be featuring both fiction and non-fiction titles on a variety of topics – perfect to give you insight into authors you love and new voices to discover.

Authors

We’re working with Penguin to bring you exclusive, original content from our featured authors. We'll be sharing essays, interviews and even video interviews with the voices behind the books. Start jotting down your questions as you read and join the conversation!

How to Join the List of Potential Reviewers

It's easy! Just fill out this form and tell us more about you. We're aware some of you may not want to read certain types of books, and we want to offer you books that fit your interests, lifestyle and -- of course -- time constraints. Once you've joined the list, we'll email you when we have a new title. Our review programs fill up fast, so keep an eye on your inbox! You'll receive an email from us if you've been selected based on timing and book preferences indicated by you.

How do we suggest books? Or rather, how do publishers submit books for review?

sassymonkey 1052 pts moderator

SandraDeeBeil Hi Sandra. BlogHer Book Club is Penguin-sponsored and we work with them to select the books.

Is there a way I can change my user name on this blog?..I see noone uses their full name...also Im considering starting a blog, then can I be considered for a reviewer?

sassymonkey 1052 pts moderator

Denise Jordan You can change your username in your profile settings but note that it will still show up in your profile URL. That's won't change. And some people do use their full names. It's totally a person choice.

sassymonkey 1052 pts moderator

Denise Jordan PeronsAL choice. I left off a couple of letters. Oops.

Do I need to have a blog to become a reviewer?

sassymonkey 1052 pts moderator

Denise Jordan Hi Denise. Yes you do. The reviews are posted to the reviewers blogs.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE being a BlogHer Book Club participant. However, I wish there was a better way to be selected for a book, as I frequently JUST miss the email offering a new book and am too late to sign up. Also, is there a spot where I can see my history of book campaigns worked on and payments?

sassymonkey 1052 pts moderator

jamesandjax Hey there! We're always working on new methods and new opportunities for our reviewers. We appreciate your feedback.

If you have specific questions about payment please email me (karen@blogher.com) and Rita (rita@blogher.com). Thanks!

sassymonkey 1052 pts moderator

jamesandjax Gah! I swear I thought I replied to you. If you have questions about your payments you can email me and Rita!

I have a question, can a person blog about any type of book that they have read? or does it have to be a specific book?

sassymonkey 1052 pts moderator

Gmajay With this program it's for specific books that are part of BlogHer Book Club.

I know you mentioned that we would receive an email about the book we will be reading but my question is. How do you know when or about what time frame we will receive the email. Second how do we even know that we were even picked to join the book club?

For the reviewer program, if your blog is not about books it makes you ineligible?

Thanks.

Denise 1890 pts moderator

missourigirl62 Anyone with a blog can be a reviewer - you do not have to have a book blog. :-)

I wrote a book and it's terrific. How do I submit it for reading?

As these reviews are for Penguin USA, does that mean you need to live in the USA to be able to become a reviewer? I'm based in the UK.

swiviol 13 pts

Where did you find that? (do you have a link?)
Thanks.

Denise 1890 pts moderator

At this time, the only books we're reviewing within the BlogHer Book Club are those that are published by Penguin.

I need your help to do a review of my book. I wrote a health book titled "Your Health Is Your Responsibility" that highlights about the reality that Americans face on HEALTH which has been a growing burden to the national welfare. The book is available on Amazon.com however it is not known. I always hope that more people can read it and get the valuable information to keep themselves healthy and disease free!

Thanks for the info. I would love an opportunity to get paid to do what I love. Read books. I wasted no time in submitting my application. I could read books all day if my kids would let me:-)

How much are the reviewers paid?

I've reviewed books for various publications. Once they publish, I usually post on my blog and also at Amazon, with notation 'originally published at...'.

My most recent was Georgia Bottoms by Mark Childress. Be glad to send you several links. Here are 3
