Happy Friday and happy Fall.  The weather is changing here in Northern California and I must say, it feels good; just in time for the upcoming holiday and BlogHer parties.Yes, I said parties!  Woo hooo!!!

Today we are excited to get started on BlogHer '10 programming by announcing our annual call for ideas! This post will describe: 1. What is the BlogHer '10 programming timeline? 2. What is the difference between BlogHer-programmed sessions and Room of Your Own sessions and how both are scheduled? 3. What is our call for ideas and what kind of suggestions are we looking for? 4. How do I send in my suggestions?

How to use your food (or non-food) blog to save the world

What is stopping you from using your food blog—or, really, any blog you write—to save the world? What is your barrier to entry into that place where your blog goes beyond telling a story and actually serves as a platform for the causes about which you’re most passionate?That was the question asked by Lydia Walshin of A Perfect Pantry and Drop In & Decorate® cookies for donation at the end of How Food Blogs Can Save The World, our panel at BlogHerFood ’09, and a worthy question which which to grapple. The participants in the panel--who also included Pim Techamuanvivit, who has raised more than $250,000 through her Menu For Hope event on Chez Pim, and Valerie Harrison of More Than Burnt Toast, who will release a fundraising cookbook in November as part of the efforts of BloggerAid: Changing the Face of Famine--were in various stages of their efforts, and they wanted to share their expertise with conference attendees.

Announcing: BlogHer ’09 Geek Lab

We’re here to help you get geeky – two levels of geeky! BlogHer has planned Beginner and Advanced tutorials for attendees, which will run concurrently with other sessions in our conference agenda. And if you still need help afterward, most speakers are more than happy to hold some “office hours” following each tutorial for a little one-on-one action. Come learn new tech tricks in the Beginner Lab, like Stats for Word Nerds or Beginning SEO, or geek out in the Advanced Lab discussing a variety of content management systems or sharing your hacks, mashups and other rebel coding.
