BlogHer Food '12: The Fairmont Olympic Hotel and ADA Accessibility

BlogHer Original Post

The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, the fabulous host hotel for BlogHer Food '12, is a historic hotel. In fact, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1924 and has seen many visitors over the years including John F Kennedy in 1961 -- who is said to have stayed in the hotel's Presidential Suite.

Given that the hotel is listed as a historic place, any restoration performed has to be done to maintain the original Italian Renaissance architecture and certain things have been grandfathered in. This leaves the hotel with having to provide additional accommodations to be compliant with today's ADA requirements. Don't fret. With the hotel's attentive staff and thorough processes, you will have no problem accessing all parts of the hotel. They do have accessible guest rooms and roll in showers -- but if there are other areas of the hotel that you may require extra assistance with maneuvering through, please reach out to me with any questions. Between the BlogHer staff and the Fairmont staff we will be sure provide you with a seamless experience at The Fairmont Olympic. Feel free to email me with questions or concerns.

Good news: You can still register for BlogHer Food '12 in Seattle this June 8-9! Don't delay!
