BlogHer has been credentialed for the Democratic National Convention August 25-28th, and we want to make sure we are promoting YOUR blog as we talk politics from the Mile High city.
Now is the time to add you name and URL to our widget and let us know if you will be in Denver this summer.
With a record number of bloggers headed to Denver in August for the Democratic National Convention, not all are going to be getting inside the Pepsi Center.
Who was chosen, why they were chosen, and how have been highly debated in the weeks since the DNCC announced credentials for bloggers. Some bloggers have even lobbied successfully to be added to the list.
Karen Brooks at the Dallas Morning News writes, "Minority blogs that felt spurned by the Democratic National Committee got some vindication recently when they were added to the list of blogs invited by party officials to cover their convention in August – but some still say the white blogs got preferential treatment and will get better access."
In fact, during the convention August 25-28th, there is so much planned for outside, BlogHer plans to have a team at the "Big Tent" and credentialed for the Pepsi Center.
The "Big Tent," is billed as "the place to be for new media journalists, bloggers, reporters, and non-profit leaders covering the Democratic National Convention in Denver this summer.
We're creating a 9,000 square foot, two-story structure that will house the work space for journalists, bloggers and new media, as well as a YouTube stage with events that will be open to the public ..."
And of course there will be protests.
A Catholic View writes, "The pro-life groups coordinating the abortion protests at the upcoming Democratic national convention will officially announce their plans on Wednesday. During the protests they hope to receive media coverage of their message that presidential candidate Barack Obama is extremely pro-abortion."
Outside, inside, or thousands of miles from Denver, women who blog will be covering events as they unfold. Will you? Let us know!
As a resident Denverite, I am beyond thrilled that our little Rocky Mountain Metro will be the site of some real celebrating in August. Feels like we've been in a coma for eight long years and it's high time we let loose.
Some tips for visitors - they don't call it The Mile High City for nothing. Drink 10X more water than you normally do and if you get short of breath doing ordinary tasks, don't take it personal.
Also, if I can be of help to anyone coming to town, please drop me a line and I'll do my best.
I will be there! I am also co-hosting the Democratic National Convention's Rocky Mountain Blogger Bash, a meet up for bloggers from all over to come meet and (drink) with Denver's local bloggers. The event is held the last night of the convention, and sponsored by a local denver company.
Contact me for details! We'd love to see you all there!

As another Denverite, I can't wait to meet all of the great bloggers - especially those I know from BlogHer - who will be coming to cover the convention!!
Since you're coming in August - make sure to take Heather's advice and drink TONS of water - we don't have any humidity here, but August is our hottest month. Remember that you're changing altitude and take it easy. Save the hyperventilating for when you get a chance to see or meet Senator Obama! ;)
Welcome to Denver and the DNC BlogHers.

Terrific Heather, GeekMommy, ShanBrentris! We can't wait to showcase what women are blogging about the convention, from inside and outside.
BlogHer also is going to the GOP convention in Minnesota (we've heard promising signs about our request for credentials), so anyone reading who is going to be there, do chime in and let us know okay?
...and while we are busier than heck, I hope to run into at least a few of you! And your bloghers in Minneapolis- St. Paul! Politics & News Contributing Editor Queen of Spain
Thanks, I'll be there as a citizen journalist paying my own way. I can help BlogHer and myself. A sponsorship from BlogHer or help from individual members would be much appreciated. I was invited as an individual blogger to represent my swing state as a female political blogger.

I'll be at The Big Tent, too!
Another Coloradan chiming in. I'll be there representing the National Association of Mothers' Centers (NAMC) and MOTHERS (Mothers Ought To Have Equal Rights). I have been writing the MOTHERS e-newsletter and doing a book blog for them called MOTHERS Book Bag for several years now. I'm thrilled that those wonderful women have given me the opportunity to go to the DNC.

Denverite will be there!
I live in Denver. I might be receiving tickets to Obama's speech at Mile High Stadium. It's sketchy at this point.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

How do you get tickets?
I live in the Denver Metro area, but have no idea how to even go about getting tickets. I'd love to see Obama speak. Anyone have any advice for me?
Thanks! :)
