There's a snake under my daughter's bed! WTH???

My husband likes to say that our youngest, Leelou, can speak parseltongue, like in the Harry Potter books, because in her ongoing effort to learn to talk, she sometimes grins mischievously (like Jack Nicholson in The Shining, if I tell the truth), and produces a series of noises that sound kind of like, "spspsp...adohomin...spspsp." ...more

Crazy night

We are all cooped up in the cottage and Kasia is going nuts. Obviously there is an animal out there that she wants to check out. We have the Phillies on the radio, Zush is gently snoring, and Jim and I are on the computer. It is funny, how with us not having a home right now, we have crammed enough stuff in here but it is far from homey.Jim is standing watching his PC and I am tucked away in a corner. When sleep finally comes tonight, you can rest assured we will be dreaming of a finished home. ...more

Naming the Dog: What's Your Method?

I have named, or helped name, a lot of dogs and my life and I've never considered any of the things suggested in The Art of Naming a Dog. I'm a little surprised they didn't mention things like Scrabble name scores because they've covered pretty much every other naming issue possible. Sheesh, how silly. ...more

World Homeopathy Awareness Week & Stuff

I had my first rabbit sighting this morning but my camera was not on hand. By the time I ran upstairs and back the rabbit was gone. Boo on me! That's okay, I won't forget to have it downstairs and ready for my 6:30 am sightings, again. It was raining all night and most of the morning and it's so relaxing to listen to. Minus the thunder, that I believe is freaking out Kai the cat. She refuses to sit by any window when the weather is too loud or active. It's stair watching all the way....more

Which Wild Animals Have You Spotted in Your Own Backyard?

Spring has almost sprung and that means it's time to start spotting the "critters" that might be visiting your backyard. Whether you live in the city, the suburbs or out in the country, there's always a chance to get in touch with your inner Ellie May and witness the wonder of our furred and feathered friends. Wednesday, Half Way There

This week has been interesting. What has not been helping are the frigid temperatures that Mother Nature has been spewing out of her butt. Seriously MN, who did what to you? The toe-numbing, pain-in-the-brow, induced by your strong winds is not appreciated. Okay, I'm finished whinging, for now. :)Not much to tell because I've been so busy. Between the workshops, submissions, the book and life, I'm stretched to my limit. No complaining here, though....more
