5 Kid-Friendly Ways to Use Royal Icing

If you’re anything like me over the holidays, you’re up to your ears buying gifts, attending parties, and just trying to make it through the month. December always feels like a race to the finish line. Who are these people who have time to bake? I’ve never been a huge baker, but it’s hard not to get caught up in the spirit of the season. Recipe: Mom's Whipped Shortbread Cookies

Every December for as far back as my memory stretches, Mom's house has been filled with the tempting aroma of Christmas baking. Tastes Like Donuts

I ran out of milk this morning.  We had soy milk and heavy whipping cream.  When I mixed it together, it tasted pretty close to regular milk.  Second son said it tasted like donuts.  First son agreed.  Yay! Victory for mom's frugal (and sneaky) ways.  Second picky eating trick: Melt together brown sugar/cream cheese/butter  and make a dip for raw carrots.  Second son ate a whole bunch of vegetables.  Score again for healthy mom!Goal today is play and have fun.  No guilt.  ...more

It is just so much fun cranking up the holiday music while dancing around the kitchen whipping up some yummy cookies. And, of course, half the fun is stuffing said cookies in my mouth while dancing around! (At least I am exercising!) ...more
