South Asian Bloggers Network

I woke up this morning to see my blog Driving Ms Desi featured on South Asian Bloggers Network as part of their 5 Awesome Mommy Bloggers. It’s wonderful to be a part of this great community in the company of some fabulous bloggers. I always worry that I don’t have anything specific to offer my readers, just a glimpse (or sometimes TMI!) into my life. It’s really just my words....more

Simple Tips to Make You Fall in Love With Your Blog

A few days ago, one of my students said that she was giving up her blog. It was taking too much time, for too little return. If you do, here are some blogging tips to help you to fall in love with your blog, perhaps for the first time. ...more

April 1st: The Day the Internet Changed My Life

No joke: Tomorrow is a very special and wonderful anniversary for me. Seven years ago today the internet helped me have a baby. Seriously. Wait. Do you not know this story? Oh, it's a good one. And it's nice to be reminded that the people on the other end of the wires and tubes and webs of our computing devices are as connected to us as we will allow them to be. ...more

How Not to do PR

I’m certainly not an expert when it comes to public relations and social media marketing, but I’ve got enough experience to know when it’s done poorly. I’ve been blogging since the dark ages of blogging, when nobody would dare ask for compensation for a product review, and I’ve seen how the landscape has shifted (and I love it, frankly). I’ve watched people build names for themselves via Twitter, and end up with careers managing brands’ social media platforms, or admired them working hard promoting new products. They make solid income doing this....more

My Blogging Identity

As I took a step back to re-evaluate my little corner of cyberspace, it made me realize just how much I truly enjoy the blogging world. I like putting thought into what I’m writing and what I’m putting out into the world. I’m not a daily poster. I’ve tried in the past, and quite honestly, most of the time when I wrote daily my posts sucked. The content was horrible, and it was just me trying to fill a void. It was a way for me to make sure my blog showed up in search engines, on people’s newsfeeds, and a way to stay in front of everyone....more

54 Writers and Bloggers Tell Where They Give for #GivingTuesday and Beyond

By Estelle ErasmusMove over Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Make room for #GivingTuesday - a global rally for great giving  which fell on December 2nd this year.I'm proud to be a social media ambassador for Giving Tuesday. What I like about the movement is that no one charity is supported--each person chooses who to support and how, whether it's a tweet, a donation, volunteering, giving time, or socially sharing on either a virtual or physical level....more

A Champion for the Just Right Chair

What do you do when you find out that one of your favorite bloggers slash writers slash truthtellers...Glennon from Momastery, is coming to your town? Well, you go out and buy yourself a new sweater, of course. Which is exactly what I did. Tortured my kiddos on a Friday evening for no good reason, to shop for me...only to come home with...yet another grey sweater.Which I'm pretty sure brings my grey sweater count total to about ... 7.
