Bellies get a lot of body image blame. Postpartum women, in particular, try to excise their midsections as quickly as possible; no one wants to get the “when are you due” question while cradling her 6 month old. And personally, my belly was my body image Achilles heel.

It is obvious to many that I love men, however I love women more. I believe us women are far more fascinating and complex creatures than men, and we are arguably more empowered now than we have ever been, so why the fuck are we still asking them for their approval. Sometimes emotion needs to be left out of body image. This sounds robot-ish, and I’m not suggesting we become detached automatons. However, if we have negative emotional reactions to our bodies, often we can short circuit these emotions by bypassing them altogether.
