Teaching can be a very difficult but very rewarding task.In general, many teachers look to inspirational quotes, messages, videos, people, etc.to help us get through some of the challenging times.Today, I found this sitting on our technology teacher’s desk and it hit home for me....more
For any woman who is larger than a size 6, there is most likely an outfit or dress that doesn't display her figure as flattering as she would like. (For any woman who is smaller than a size 6...you can suck it, and I'm pretty sure we aren't friends.)
Fortunately, for those of us in the former category, the geniuses at Spanx created a product that allows women to put on undergarments of wonder, and give the illusion they are thinner than they actually are. ...more
Recently, a 19-year-old girl reached out to me regarding her experience with being hospitalized for four months for the treatment of her anorexia. I was so touched because she told me she aspired to look like me. I had tears rolling down my face at the thought of her feeling that way. Having had a battle with anorexia as a teen myself, I understand the delusional mindset of such a person firsthand. Those dark days are far behind me now, but my 13 year old self didn’t understand how much work it takes to look this way. Denying oneself the proper calories i...more
This post has been in my head for a few months now. Thanks to Bren over at My Girly Parts for reminding me to get it out.

Forget the fact that all of those magazines are airbrushed a million times over. We never think about that....more
When I was in the seventh grade, I asked my mom to buy me a bra. I didn't need one, technically. But all the other girls were wearing them, and I was beginning to feel a bit awkward when we had to change for gym class. I'd watched the Breast Fairy visit all of my friends and acquaintances, endowing them with varying degrees of curves and cleavage, and was still waiting for her to bring me mine.Much to my chagrin, she never came....more
It's that time of the year when everyone is abuzz with New Year's resolutions. They include "lose weight," "exercise more," "get healthy," and a million others in between. I'm not against resolutions, but what I do hate to see is an unrealistic attitude and approach on the losing weight one -- and the biggest offenders are women....more
NEW YEARS EVE is only a few days away and thanks to OPRAH and THE SECRET for the past seven years I’ve been on a quest to make the perfect VISON BOARD. Here’s how it works:- Cut out pictures and words that represent how you want your life to be (usually pics of cars, houses, sexy men, hot bodies and words like, love, success, marriage, happiness)- Glue the images on a sheet of cardboard and place it where you can look at it every day. This vision board is meant to tell your brain that what it sees (i.e the pictures and words) is real and already your present life....more
