It's Baseball Season and Cheeseburger is Back!

We've survived our first week of baseball season.  There's been tears, frustration, excitement and about every other emotion in between.  We've braved 40 mph winds, rain and winter-like temps.  And I've become a Martha Stewart in the laundry room, perfecting the art of removing grass stains from white pants.  All have been memories in the making!...more

Faithful Friday: Finding Rest

May November

November is a painful month for us.  In a time when most are celebrating the upcoming season, gathering with family and friends, we brace ourselves for the nightmare we must relive.  We lost our sweet, 14 year old son the weekend after Thanksgiving.  Once my favorite holiday, it is now filled with horrific reminders of 2008.  The night our world forever changed. ...more

Home Sweet Home

written April 20, 2010Austin was always a good child. As a baby, he would stay so happy that we sometimes didn't know he was sick. As a toddler, I don't remember ever struggling with him to listen to me. As a young child, it was rare for Tim or me to have discipline him. He carried on the same character traits as a teenager. Faithful Friday: Pray Without Ceasing

Noah came home with a bracelet last night that simply said, "Pray without ceasing," which he got from a local youth church event. It surprised him that I knew the verses surrounding, as they instantly came out of my mouth upon seeing it. I shared with him it was one of my favorite verses and why. And it's been on my heart ever since....more

From the Ashes

There's a home in our neighborhood that suffered fire damage a few months back.  Luckily, it was not a total loss, as the fire department contained it to just the master bedroom/bath.  While the home suffered smoke damage, it could've been much worse.  It happened during the day and nobody was injured.  Really, as far as a house fire is concerned it was one of those "best case scenarios."...more

Joyful...Challenge

Some days the name of this blog (and my life) feels more like the last half of the word, instead of the first.  Some days, it's hard to be joyful.  Some days, it is all challenge.  Sometimes the day is much more raincloud than sunshine.  And I have to remind myself, it's ok.  Sometimes....more

Heaven Sent Hugs

I wrote Spring Showers soon after I arrived home, as I often do.  Commuting back and forth to work gives me a lot of time to think about things and so inspiration often comes from the road.  I'll try to capture my thoughts as soon as I make it home, hoping to complete it before Noah arrives and the busyness of the evening progresses....more
