An Innovative Pattern: Scrappy Clutch, Purse or Tote!

This pattern was originally for an over the shoulder purse but I fold one side in half to make a crocheted clutch. I love this adaptable pattern because it uses up scrap yarn of any thickness,  adjusts to any size of hook  and is the basic pattern for any size of bag that you might wish to create....more

Crocheting Philosophically

Crocheting With Humour

I love to crochet while talking, listening, waiting, watching. I just discovered  wonderful quotes by  Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, At Knit’s End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much. This woman extolls the intelligence of knitters (or crocheters). I  can’t wait to tell my kids, who think I am slightly nuts....more

The Travelling, Crocheting Grandma.

For the last couple of weeks, it really has been a life of “anything goes”. I have stayed with a daughter who is on bed  rest to prevent a premature birth, with a daughter-in-law and my newborn grandson and helped out another daughter by babysitting while she and her husband accompanied a professional house inspector before buying a beautiful country home. I  have also kept busy by  writing articles, blogging and asking advice about publishing a book....more

Usually, I crochet queen size blankets, cream coloured bed covers, Afghans, shawls, baby blankets, scarves , dish cloths and gorgeous hand towels but I have never considered crocheting anything else. Nine kids with birthdays, weddings and now grandbabies kept me crocheting constantly for years....more

All Tied Up

All Tied up in Knots I wield a stick with a hook at the end, and use fine soft beautiful yarn and tie knots with my hook, transforming the yarn into beautiful blankets.  Lately I’ve been doing more crocheting than I had in the past, because my hands hurt.  But having daughter ask for blankets for the babies spurred me into action and I’m now working on afghan number three.  This one is for Mr. Quinn for his big boy bed.   ...more

Got my craft on Today! My crocheted headband...awww yeah!

First off I would like to say that this wonderful project was not my own creation. Nope.  I went Stumbling around a few nights ago and found a great tutorial on how to make a crocheted headband.  I am not a great crocheter (is that a word?). I learned how to crochet in High School from a friend.  She was able to teach me even though I am left handed....more
