How to Paint Oak Stairs (Without Sanding First!)

Sometimes I want to kick myself for not starting this blog 7 and a half years ago (about the time that hubby and I moved into our house).  I could have written over a dozen DIY posts for you like how to install hardwood floors, tiles and trim, swap light fixtures, install new faucets, painting tips, wallpaper, ... My husband and I did all of those projects right here at home well before this blog even existed! It doesn't make much sense for me to write about them now because I don't have many photographs nor real time updates and costs....more

DIY Starburst Mirror for less than $7

My sister is so pinteresty... she pretty much has her life planned out board by board and makes things accordingly. For example, she is currently in the middle of 3+ projects for her new apartment, plus planning an engagement party for her friend (and now is probably creating a board called "revenge" to come up with ideas for getting back at me for mentioning her on this post)....more

From open to closed in 30 minutes

I know lately open concept has been a huge home style trend, and it tends to be for those without clutter. I don't know how home magazines depict individuals homes as being clutter free with the same concept, as half the time just breezing in through my front door creates clutter. In one sense I envy those who can meticulously pull off the open-concept office space, and then reality sunk in when I saw this every day....more
