Teacher Drag: How One Hashtag Turned Me Into a Fashionista

What started as a sweet inside joke between me and my mom grew into something much larger. My friends started texting me how they loved seeing my outfits, and when I changed the privacy settings on my Instagram and made it public, I suddenly had a slew of fashionistas (and teachers) liking my posts and following me. ...more

Romper in the City

I have been loving that rompers have stayed in style over the last few years. I was unsure when they first cropped up a few years ago how I felt, but true to most trends I warmed up. The hard part in a romper for me is the fit. When something is one piece it often does not sit where it is supposed to. I tend to have a long torso and long legs. I know, I know...my family always makes fun of me when I complain about this but it does make things difficult when things are sized to fit someone three inches shorter than me....more

A Talbots Try-On Session

Let me start by saying that I’ve never shopped at Talbots before. However, I was recently talking to someone who was raving about the store and she told me that I just had to check them out. According to her, they were positioning themselves for a younger market and she always had luck finding work clothes there.Okay, challenge accepted! Before I entered the store, here were my preconceptions of Talbot’s aesthetic: Super preppy, expensive, kind of dowdy with modest necklines, and appropriate for the 60+ group. So, did they prove me wrong? At least knowing it is a short week will help me get through it. I have to say I had a pretty decent weekend although it felt fast. I tried to relax as  much as I could because I have not gotten a lot of that lately so this round up will likely be short....more

Skinny Jeans: When Tight Gets Dangerous

A 35-year old woman wearing tight skinny jeans was helping a friend move.  After squatting while emptying cabinets all day, she had trouble moving her feet and while walking home, fell down and could not get up.  She lay on the pavement for hours before she was discovered. By the time she was discovered, her legs were so swollen they had to cut the jeans off of her, and she was hospitalized for 4 days receiving IV fluids until she could properly move her legs again....more

Casual chic + Link Up (H54F et al)

Happy Friday everyone! I cannot tell you how relieved I am it is Friday and the weekend is  a few short hours away. It has been totally nutso crazyface at work this week, hence my lack of posts. I apologize for that. I barely had time to complete my work and errands let alone put together a post. I could have done a small post but I would rather not post at all then upload a shotty one. So let's start with the H54F model of five things from this week. Here goes:...more
