Surviving my Daughter's Frozen Birthday Party: Let it Go. Away. Now.

So I think I’ve recovered from the Frozen birthday we hosted at our house on Saturday with nineteen Kindergarteners, three 3-year olds, and one very bored 8-year-old. Overall, it went better than expected, and everyone seemed to have a good time (except maybe my 8-year-old).  However, as if the last seven months weren’t enough, I think Saturday finally guaranteed that the Frozen soundtrack will forever be etched in my brain. So forgive me if some Frozen lyrics weave themselves into my recap, I just can’t seem to let it go....more

Little Luxuries, Big Payoff

Somewhere around last fall I started treating myself to Bath & Body's Foaming Hand Soaps. Previously, I would raid the Dollar Store for my pantry stash of soaps but then my days of perusing the Dollar Store became limited. Having three little muffins around you at all times can do that. But with 20% off coupons, plenty of sales and shipping deals, the ease of treating myself to these little scented beauties became completely justifiable. Being a stay-at-home momma, my home is my office. I like my office to have some amenities. It's nice....more

fake eyebrows

Maddie was standing watching me put on my war paint yesterday morning as I got ready for work. I was aware of her intent staring, the way a worm might feel (if it could feel), right before a bird pounces. Suddenly, she pounced.  "Grammy, are those fake eyebrows?" I stopped drawing my fake eyebrows on and laughed loudly. ...more

Help! My Kids Are Going to Camp and Won't Let Me Go With Them!

Dear Mouthy Housewives,My two daughters are going to sleep-away camp for the first time this summer. They're very excited to be gone a week, but I'm mostly nervous. I don't want to spend the entire time they're away fretting and worrying about how they're doing and if they miss me, but I don't know what to do to relax. My husband wants the two of us to take a little romantic trip, but I'm not sure that's a good idea and it might make me even more anxious. Help!Signed,Paranoia Self Destroia...more

GenX References That My Kids Don't Get

I gave him a hug, the young 22-year-old who was graduating from college. Arnold (not his real name) had worked for me at the University since he was an 18-year-old freshman. And here he was. Going out into the real world. He told me about his new job in Milwaukee.“Ooo,” I said excitedly. “Did you know that Milwaukee has a statue of Fonzie?”“Who?” he replied.“You  know, The Fonz?”Blank stare.“From Happy Days?”Blank stare. Followed by a polite smile....more

Second rinse

It worked better on my nipples then it did in my mouth. I felt it dance around, leaving a trail of saliva that side down the side of my boob.“Don’t stop!”Yes it was a shout and not one of those soft whispers in his ear, it’s strange but his motion was tender but firm, fine not rough, and a touch of happy with joy. He was making love to me and that is when I remembered. During out friendship, Maz was a good friend, someone I loved....more
