First Impressions Make Lasting Ones

I am always left a little taken aback when I read articles about Interviewing Do’s and Don’ts. This morning a candidate came to our office for an interview with pants dragging on the ground and soaking wet hair. She was a lovely woman but her presentation put her at the end of the line for potential job interviews. After spending over twenty-five years in the staffing industry, I am amazed that people still don’t pay attention to the details that they can control and improve upon. My philosophy is to always control what you can!...more

An Interview with Agápe Bridal.

Agápe Bridal. Agápe. Hum. What does that mean? How do you pronounce it? The dresses on the front window are stunning. The store is beautiful and smells brand new. Dresses are hung neatly in racks and the wooden floor is gleaming. As I open the door and walk in, the woman behind the beautiful granite counter smiles. Her name is Sue. She co-owns Agápe Bridal with her daughter, Amber. We sit down and our interview is soon underway. ...more

An Interview with Paper Nation.

The soft baby blue, the thick journals with luxurious covers, the stationary and vintage furniture beckoned me to go into the store. I walk in and immediately feel like I've walked into a place that Style Me Pretty would approve of. He turns at the sound of the door opening, and greets me with a friendly smile. Today, I am interviewing Brian from Paper Nation. ...more

How To Ace A Job Interview

Hi friends! I had a whole different post planned for today but life took over and I just had to go with the flow. I spent the entire day at a university doing job interviews. I met a lot of impressive students sporting resumes that were filled with good grades, exciting internships and extracurricular activities. Some of the people I met today were so inspiring - I read through the resumes and I kept thinking "How can you be just 21?" I am telling you, students are the ultimate over achievers!  ...more

Brooke Moreland is Changing How We Dress

Game Changers is a series of interviews with awesome women who are changing the landscape of the web. Does this look good on me? We've all asked ourselves that question. And, if you're like me, you spend minutes (okay, let me be honest, hours) in stuffy dressing rooms pondering this question. I used to wish that I had a portable style consultant in my pocket. Thanks to Brooke Moreland, I now do. ...more

So... Have you ever wondered how other people experience God or the Divine?

I'm fascinated by the concept of God. This is not from an academic stance but a deeply personal yearning for ongoing experience of the Divine.Yet my journey has not be the most traditional one. I was raised Catholic and left the church in my early 20's. Then after a number of years of studying yoga at a huge yoga center, I became a disciple of the guru there. But shortly after initiation he was ousted for having sex with some of the beautiful young women who sought out his spiritual teachings. This left me depressed and in a tail spin....more

Job Interviews- how to deal with the tough questions.

Today I had signed up for a webinar on interviewing to help me with my job search. For the first time, I really enjoyed attending the webinar. Mostly, it was due to the active participation of the other members attending the webinar and partly because the topic is interesting, as people face different types of questions when attending an interview and the webinar was about how to deal with such questions and answer them in the best possible way.  One of the participants told us that she was asked how many diapers does the city of Pennsylvania use in a day?...more
