Monday again?

It's Monday, a good day to start something new, don't you think?  I've been wanting to start a blog for awhile now and found BlogHer and thought it looked that the right place to be!  If anyone has any advice for a new blogger, I'd love to hear it! I was really hopeing to write more, but my 3 year old has just told me he cleaned his Thomas track with crayons, so I guess I'm out of luck for now....more

Mom Dreams

I don't sleep too great at night now that I'm post-menopausal.  And, when I do sleep, I'm not a big 'dreamer'.  At least not dreams that I remember.  I read somewhere that we actually dream pretty much every night, but we just don't remember them all.  Perhaps there's mercy in that somehow. The dreams that I do remember the next morning are almost always about my children, my two sons.  I think most moms can relate to that -- our kids are just always in our heart, mind, thoughts, and dreams.  But, here's the interesting thing I'm finding.....My&n...more

Yes, I'm A Mother. And No, I Don't Cook.

I know I'm supposed to be feeding my kids home-cooked meals made from organic vegetables grown in my own garden, but here's the thing: I hate cooking. (And gardening, too.) I'm actually truly, truly grateful that I can buy things like prepared chicken teriyaki at my local bulk discount store. I love that my daughters' busy schedules of after-school activities forces us to eat out several nights a week. And I'm very thankful that I married a man who can cook (although, sadly for us, his work schedule prevents him from doing so every night)....more
It's great that you don't like to cook! It's a stupid steriotype that women (especcially ...more

Nursing in public...one moms look back

You know how they say when you buy a new car you see everyone around you has the same car/color? All because you notice it more. I think the same thing can be said about breast feeding moms, even my husband, and close friends have noticed it. I saw a post this week’s about breast feeding at a State Fair and had to laugh; hubby and I were at our State Fair on Monday (post coming later this weekend) and I didn’t notice anyone breast feeding; but A) I wasn’t looking, and B) there were SO many people!...more

I Swore I'd Never Wear Eileen Fisher

Oh, how life comes 'round and makes you laugh at your younger self. My younger self assumed so many things about who I would become. Mother? Check. Magazine editor? Check. Writer? Check. Married? Check. And, uh, uncheck. (That's a story for another day.)...more

Addicted To...

even if it doesn't taste as good as I thought or isn't as much to my liking, I polish it off anyway. I am briefly satisfied at "indulging" in a forbidden treat, until it hits my stomach, then the aching and churning starts, followed quickly by the first few pangs of regret...all will haunt me for the next several hours. I mean, my chocolate soy milk never makes me feel so bad. I don't feel guilty, when I go to bed sans dessert. And, I wonder, why?...more

Work for Moms Who Stay at Home

As a mom to two little ones, I need time to myself. I have a master's degree in counseling and enjoy making self accomplishments. Although I believe my children are accomplishments of my life too, I also need something for myself that is not kid related. I also think that other moms need to think of themselves more. If you stay at home, you are working. Having kids is a job. Many women need to think of themselves and take the time to enjoy a hobby, even a job on the side they enjoy....more

An Accidental Epiphany

http://projectsupermom.blogspot.com/2011/08/accidental-epiphany.html Well, here I was, all set for my major relaunch and recommitment to blogging regularly, and I spent last week doing absolutely none! Sorry, supermoms! What I was doing was working my 1/2-marathon training schedule, keeping up with work (my real job not Project Supermom stuff), taking care of the baby and the rest of the family, and tinkering with a couple of overdue house projects....more
