I've always wanted to throw a ghoulish Halloween party for adults only. I've thrown my share of kid & teen Halloween parties and potlucks but I want to do a more elegant, creepy themed party now.
Ah, the things we are willing to do for our offspring! I don’t consider my kid being spoiled. Yeah, she does get showered in gifts by grandparents a few times a year, but my husband and I aren’t big on that at all. Ok, maybe I am in denial about it, but in my heart I don’t believe in loving with gifts (maybe with food, but that’s a whole another story). Our current strategy is — we don’t hold back on books, everything else is on as-needed basis....more
Back in July, my friend and I hosted a My Favorite Things party. It was basically just an excuse to have a girls night (I'm always looking for an excuse), but the exchange ended up being a total hit. Clearly, I love talking about My Favorite Things and turns out everyone else does, too....more

I just got home from my trip, seconds ago – I haven’t even had a chance to go to the toilet yet! I got home to six letters and two big boxes that I haven’t even opened yet! Ah, the summer is here. Picnic and party time. Also hot as you know what, and incredible laziness sets in before you even have a chance to realize it. Cooking sessions become shorter, farther apart, and I don’t know about you, but my creativity in this heat all boils down (ha ha, no pun intended, but totally fitting) to whether to sprinkle fresh herbs on top of my plate of boring dinner or not....more
There was music from my neighbor’s house through the summer nights. In his blue gardens men and girls came and went like moths among the whisperings and the champagne and the stars. At high tide in the afternoon I watched his guests diving from the tower of his raft, or taking the sun on the hot sand of his beach while his two motor-boats slit the waters of the Sound, drawing aquaplanes over cataracts of foam.
