BlogHer Handmade '11 Call for Volunteers

BlogHer Original Post

Call for Volunteers has closed!  Thank you to all that have applied.

We are putting out a call for volunteers for this year’s BlogHer Handmade ’11 Conference in St. Paul, MN -- and we have BlogHerships available!

We're offering BlogHerships in exchange for being a conference volunteer. At the BlogHer Handmade conference, we are looking for volunteers interested in live blogging, so BlogHerships are very limited.

What is a BlogHership, you ask? BlogHerships are a way for people who cannot afford the conference pass to a BlogHer event to still attend. BlogHerships are always volunteer positions at the conferences.

All BlogHerships are designed to cover the $225 registration fee only for the BlogHer Handmade day, and do not include travel expenses.

If you are not sure whether live blogging is for you, here's what you need to ask yourself and expect:

Can you type quickly? Do you have a knack for remaining unbiased?

In this position, volunteers will create an official record of assigned sessions for both attendees and non-attendees to reference. You must transcribe the session as it plays out, not summarize or editorialize the discussion between panelists and attendees.

Live bloggers must use their own wifi-enabled laptops. The estimated time commitment is two sessions (2.5 hours) per day.

If you are interested in this opportunity, don’t delay and apply for a BlogHership today. You have until September 8, 2011.
