VOLVO is proud to introduce the New 2010 Volvo XC60, so they invited some lucky BlogHer Reviewers to come and check it out!
One look could stop traffic, but this crossover can even stop itself with City Safety, an auto-braking feature that is a world-first as standard equipment.
When operating at speeds of 18 mph and under, this technology can detect a stopped or slower-moving car in front of you. City Safety can apply the brakes in the event that you are unable to do so, keeping you and your fellow drivers as safe as possible in city driving conditions.
But safety isn't all the XC60 has to offer. The XC60's crossover design mixes traditional XC ruggedness with a dash of coupe that feels distinctly Scandinavian.
Versatility is also part of Scandinavian design. In the XC60, the rear seat provides two distinct seats with a solid armrest in the middle. To provide a third seat, just raise the armrest. And when it comes to driving dynamics, the class-leading XC60 leads its class in horsepower and torque.
With all of the above and more, the XC60 is impressively-equipped starting at $32,995 MSRP.
Check out what each BlogHer Reviewer had to say about this impressively equipped car that can stop itself!
Jenny from Jenny On The Spot shared a hilarious video and photos of her experience with the Volvo XC60. She and her friend checked out every aspect of the Volvo, and even discovered cameras below the side view mirrors to cover the drivers blind spots.
After plowing through a test barrier, Miss Bossy of My Whim Is LAW had a second chance to try the City Safety feature out. Originally giving into instinct, she slammed on the brakes in an attempt to avoid the collision but was too late. The next try she trusted the Volvo to do the work, and the car automatically stopped "on a dime as she drew near" without hitting the barrier.
Jennifer of Woolsey Web found that the "Volvo XC60 is for a woman who wants a car that can handle the functionality of hauling kids to school, practice, and play dates and all the gear and groceries that are needed to keep the day to day running". She adds that "This is not your mom's mini-van", it is for someone that appreciates the finer things in life, cares about the environment and is concerned with the safety of her loved ones.
After learning "that the word Volvo means "I roll" in Latin, and not "shiny car" in Swedish" Mona of Kirida had her turn to try the City Safety feature. Getting over the akward order to accelerate into a barrier, she "prepared to ruin this beautiful vehicle. The car's interior filled with the sound of my yelling. And suddenly, the brakes engaged and our bodies lurched forward and we had stopped."
After snapping a few pictures of the outside, Rhi of Rhi In Pink climbed into the driver's seat to look at all of the buttons. She was "immediately drawn to the super-easy to navigate climate control buttons. I have driven my current vehicle for over a year and still struggle with the difference between turning the heat on just the floor and turning the heat on just my face. So, this is important to me. "
Lisa of Life of Elle was not only impressed with the standard City Safety system, but also noted the built-in child booster seats and optional heated rear seats. "Such little things amuse me. You have to fess up that you too like a heaty seat. Nothing better than a warm seat on a cool morning. Don't believe me? Try it, you'll like it."
Kristin of Lovely Disturbance was thrilled to find a car that allows the driver "focus on the aspects of their lives they love. The children in their back seat, or the views of a beautiful city street. Should that driver become preoccupied with their passions, the Volvo city safety system kicks into gear."
Andria of Andria and Co. was instantly attracted to the design of the XC60 but really fell in love with the City Safety feature. She learned that 75% of traffic accidents occur at speeds less than 19 mph, and "There have been so many times that I have almost rear-ended a vehicle in front of me, while doing the one arm sweep searching for lost sippy cups, toys, and more in the back-seat."
Seeing the unveiling of the Volvo XC60, Meg of Lucchese To Louis Vuitton shared, "not only is it a visual feast, it is safe and economical, and downright sexy! Quite the change from the boxy type "Soccer" mom SUVs you see all the time."
