BlogHer talks with Rep. Maxine Waters: California Counts
by Erin Kotecki Vest

California Gold is shining bright today with 441 delegates up for grabs in the Democratic Presidential Primary. The state moved it's primary from June to February gaining a greater influence in determining presidential candidate nominees.

With so much at stake, every congressional district matters now more than ever. Which is why when Congresswoman Maxine Waters, who represents South Central Los Angeles, gave her endorsement to Senator Hillary Clinton, she raised more than a few eyebrows.

Representative Waters sat down with me today at her Congressional office and told me exactly why she chose to endorse Clinton, as well as her thoughts on this historic primary, the current administration, her road to Washington, and even a prediction.

Congresswoman's Sarcasm

I loved when she said, "Certainly we must give this administration credit for having failed the American people, and having created resentment by the people, we now find ourselves in an economy that appears to continue to sink and to fall apart and to carry us into a recession..."

Fabulous videos!

I'm so loving this coverage from you, Erin and Katy! Thank you!!

Thanks

Rep. Waters was very down to earth. I have interviewed her before, but in press gaggles or with my mic up on a podium.

I also hope this shows other elected officials and those who want to be elected officials there is nothing to fear with sitting down, one-on-one, with blogher.

Great interview, Erin and Katy!

I first became impressed by the congresswoman during the Rodney King riots, when I was a cub reporter. Agree with her or not on individual issues, I find her fearless, unapologetic and articulate under fire. Don't take my word for it, take Jon Stewart's: See Martha Casey.

Thanks

That Jon Stewart. Funny, funny stuff. On a completely different note, Jon Stewart is the host of this year's Oscar's!

she's got style

Great work Erin. Since I don't live in California, I've haven't heard of Maxine Waters until today. After this great interview, I certainly won't forget her. She has me second guessing my support for President. I need to get this sorted out before Saturday. This is a great accomplishment for BlogHer. Well done!

Rep. Waters was very personable

So I understand Egan. She made me second guess my vote.

If only we could all sit down with each candidate and their endorsers this would be much easier! Hahaha, imagine the logistics on that, a nice chat with every citizen of this country. But it sure would help.

Wonderful job, Erin!

But then, I'm not surprised. You consistently hit them out of the park.
