BlogHer Conferences Update - - August 11, 2012

Well, BlogHer '12 is a mere memory now as we have reached the one week post-conference milestone. But it's not over entirely, we still have our VirtualCon where you can view photos, read liveblogs, and more! We're updating the VirtualCon regularly, so check back often for new material....more

We're Reading What You're Writing About BlogHer '12

It may not come as a shock to you, but bloggers love to write. So when you gather a bunch of bloggers together for a big conference, they're going to write about their experiences. (I know, duh, right?) Our BlogHer '12 attendees have been writing up a storm since they got home from the conference, sharing their highs and lows, their great pics and their "I think that looks like Sparklecorn because of all the glowsticks" iPhone shots. We've been reading along, laughing and crying, making notes for next year and years to come. We've been hearing you, BlogHer '12 attendees. And we want others to hear you too....more

Something to Believe In: The Sisterhood of Motherhood

As we continue to read through the many (and important, every last one of them) write-ups about BlogHer '12, I stumbled upon one that I really just had to share with our BlogHer Moms readers. If you missed the special keynote with Soledad O'Brien, Christy Turlington Burns and Malaak Compton-Rock, you missed a beautiful, inspiring little gem about how we, as mothers, are more alike than different. Amy at Using Our Words wrote -- so beautifully -- about the moment and how it shaped her conference experience. ...more

Some Thoughts on Voices of the Year

Whenever anyone new to the BlogHer annual conference has asked for a description of the Voices of the Year Community Keynote, I resort to saying something like, "It's the beating heart of the conference." And then I add, "And also its funny bone." Then, "Okay, and also its conscience." It may sound hyperbolic, but I wind up saying that the Voices of the Year Community Keynote is nothing less than an in-person demonstration of why so many of us bother to read and write blogs....more

Hash Tags, Handles and Handshakes Oh My! A Recap of BlogHer 2012

Last weekend I had the privilege of attending BlogHer 2012, a nation-wide gathering of (mostly) she-bloggers, consisting of classes, guest speakers, and gale-force networking.  Though somewhat of a whirlwind, I found the experience thoroughly informative and enjoyable!  Personal highlights included hearing Katie Couric, Martha Stewart, and Christy Turlington speak, attending an array of interesting workshops, and connecting with fell...more

The Girl who threw up at Blogher12

Yes, you read it right.  That girl is me. I decided to do a personal vlog telling you about my very disgusting experience.  I don't go into great detail (come on, I'm already admitting online that this happened to me, I don't need to give you all the gross embellishments). ...more

BlogHer12: Everyone Has a Voice

Back when I was in college I didn’t know how to cook and I certainly didn’t know how to bake. There was one exception:  I could make a strawberry cheesecake.  Somewhere I had picked up a recipe book and taught myself how to make my favorite dessert. I would wow and impress potential boyfriends with the one and only thing I knew how to make.Fast forward to last weekend. I went to BlogHer12, the largest gathering of women bloggers in the United States....more

I Went To BlogHer '12 And All I Got Was This New Weight Loss Blog (and a ton of swag, and a lot of good info, and memories...)

Yes, that's right. I've started another blog, and it's all thanks to the good folks at BlogHer '12.  I went to their conference last week and got so charged up, I decided to start a weight loss blog. I made a promise to myself: by BlogHer '13 (next July), I will be fifty - yes, FIFTY - pounds lighter....more
