Whether you have a job, own a business, or are looking for a job, chances are you are networking now more than ever. Networking is placed on a pedestal like no other and you can barely go through 24 hours without someone telling you "it's all about networking" and "you have to be out there networking".

Screen capture of video blogI was an early adopter of video blogging and screencasting. In the last year or so, I've gotten away from it. I really miss making videos and screencasts.

We're all running here and there to conferences and meetups–not the least of which are the upcoming BlogHer conferences. Traveling, traveling . . . but in a high-tech, gadget-happy world, what do you pack? What do you leave at home?
Social media is changing everything about how employers find workers and how workers find jobs. The hunt to match up people, skills, and jobs is moving online.
Someone who knows someone you know may send you a Jobvite for a job you didn't even apply for. Perhaps for a job that was never advertised anywhere. In Recruiting Via Your Employee's Socal Networks, in the New York Times, that pointed out,

Earlier this year, Advertising Age magazine named its Agency A-List wherein it recognized what they considered the best advertising agencies in 2008 based on key criteria including innovation, effectiveness and growth. Ad Age illustrated the article announcing the selection of the A-List with a group portrait of the leaders of the selected agencies.
Have you looked at the list of speakers for BlogHer09 yet? I read it the other day and was completely pumped about how great the programming for the conference is going to be. I decided to take a closer look at the blogs of some of the more tech-oriented speakers. I separated out a few of them from the roster.
Whether you're going to BlogHer '09 in Chicago or not, you're invited to a blogger meet-up in one of 17 cities this June.
Thanks to some incredible blog-hostesses with the mostest -- with a little help from BlogHer.com's new party-starting Groups technology -- you can find out below where and when bloggers are getting together in Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Boulder/Denver, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, Los Angeles, NYC, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa, Toronto and Vancouver.
Last week, the BlogHer product team rolled out our latest tool - this one designed to help you manage your social media identity. If you use BlogHer Chatter and Twitter and even Facebook, we now offer you a one-stop-shopping approach to telling your peeps (and your Tweets) what you're up to. Props to our friends at Cerado who helped us build it!
Here's how you use it.

With all the current anger at certain corporations it is easy to loose sight that many corporations do honor and support diverse communities. Corporations have and continue to support their communities. The 2009 L’Oreal-UNESCO Women In Science Awards presented five scientists with $100,000 each in recognition of their work.

Saying that I have very strong feelings about what interning can do for one's career is a gross understatement. While I can only base this on personal experience but I do think that internships and those first jobs - even the most inane that include 'Xeroxing' as a skill - are a solid foundation for a career. Living in DC for six years all of which were spent attempting to build some sort of career even if it meant enjoying hors d'oeuvres at fundraisers because they were free and free lukewarm calamari is way better than Ramen; presented me with options.
