On This Veteran's Day

I cannot lecture about the importance of Veteran's Day, not because I'm averse to podiums but because I am not a Vet, a child of a Vet, or a spouse to one.So instead I'm going to share a short tale about a Veteran with whom I am familiar. ...more

Let's Honor Women Veterans By Giving Them Equal Care

As we pay tribute we pay tribute to the people who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces this Veterans' Day, did you know that 2 million American veterans are women? I recently had the opportunity to speak over the phone with Rep. Martha McSally (R-AZ) and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), to find out more about the state of women in the military — and after they exit their service....more
In reading your post one might think there are no available services for women Veterans.  That ...more

Cellphone use: yay or nay?

In October, there was the incident at Spring Valley High School, SC in which an officer slamming a student on the floor over cellphone use. It was excessive use of force and there is not excuse for the officer’s actions.  But in the aftermath of the incident, because of the officer’s action, I think another discussion that could have occurred simply got ignored: is it OK for students to use cellphones while class is going on? ...more

Not Necessarily All That Unwilling?

A few days ago a twelve year old girl (so, someone in 6th or 7th grade to help you picture it) in Texas was lured into a CVS bathroom by a stranger and raped. Do you know how Southside Place Detective Michael Kelly described the attack?Go on, guess. I bet you cannot stoop low enough in your fetid imagination of rape-shaming to guess correctly....more

I always miss the cool stuff when it happens. Thank goodness for Twitter, right?...more

#LoveYourLawyerDay: Why I Love MY Lawyer (and It's Not Just Because I'm Married to Him)

So today is Love Your Lawyer Day, which you can read about here.Y'all, this is not a joke.  Now, we are not a hyper-sensitive bunch here, and we can laugh at a good lawyer joke now and again, but the constant vilification of the members of the legal profession can get a little tiresome.Especially if you know MY lawyer....more

Pedophile Darren Paden and the Dearborn Missouri Pedophile-Lovers Who Support Him

I am so pissed.Knowing that our culture has a pernicious and egregious habit of rape shaming victims of sexual assault, regardless of how young those victims are, does not keep me from losing my damn mind every time I read about it. You’d think I’d become jaded by now, but no; I still feel like my head is going to explode....more
