4 Beauty Products Every Gal Should Carry In Her Purse!

We’ve all been there. You leave the house with zero makeup and inevitably spot a person you want to look your best for. Or you’re headed into an interview and upon inspection in their restroom realize your eyeliner resembles that of a raccoon’s. Or my personal favorite: you meet up with friends for happy hour and realize your skin is oilier than the infamous Exxon Valdez oil spill.  Read more >

Sonia Kashuk at Target, Beauty for Every Woman

In 1999 the Sonia Kashuk beauty brand was born in partnership with Target stores. At around the very same time, while wandering around Target one day, I found a perfect little eyeshadow brush and, because it was so pretty, I bought it. It was a Sonia Kashuk product, and it was the first eyeshadow brush I bought that didn't come free with an eyeshadow compact. I remember feeling very professional about having purchased it. Though I don't use it daily, I still have the eyeshadow brush - over 10 years later, and I am now well aware of the "luxury at mass" brand that is Sonia Kashuk.  Read more >

The Cost of High Fashion for the Youngest Consumer

Today's New York Times "Thursday Styles" section features the article, "That Dress Is SO Preschool," covering high fashion (in every sense) on models who look to be about five years old. We're talking a "Lanvin tulle dress, $1,200, and taffeta coat, $1,570, both at Barneys." Didn't you just know Barney's would be in on this? The clothes? Completely adorable. The price tags? Utterly ridiculous. But can we all take a breath here?  Read more >

What to Wear on a First Date - Plus Size Clothing Tips

I'm going to be short and sweet: (Probably) do as I say, not as I do. I met my love at a backyard barbeque wearing worn jeans, a black hoodie,  old converse shoes and a scowl on my face. He was still interested for some reason, but I sure stepped it up once we went out on first official date. And, even though I was thinner, I was still a size 12, still self-conscious about what would look good on me and still plus sized.  Read more >

Prom Dress Smackdown: Twilight vs. Disney Princesses

Prom Dress Mashup

It's prom season. Remember prom? Remember the dresses? Mine for some reason were always covered in sequins, meaning by the end of the night I'd be bleeding from the armpits and sweating like a pig. But, then again, there was no need for structured undergarments. Yay for the early nineties! Kids these days with their princess- and vampire-inspired dresses don't know what they are missing.  Read more >

Q: My closet is filled with black, black and more black (don't get me wrong, this is great for those cold winter months), but now that we are entering spring I would love to branch out and experiment with wearing a bit more color. Where do I begin?
A: Incorporating color into your wardrobe can be as minimal as adding a brightly colored accessory to your outfit, such as throwing on a colored scarf or bracelet. Or, if you dare to go bolder, change up the color of your eyeshadow or sport an animal print T-shirt under a neutral sweater. The possibilities are endless! Read on for more ways to incorporate the colors of spring into your wardrobe.
