Yikes, I missed my blogoversary!  I've been excited about it for weeks, but for some reason thought it was March 7th, not March 5th.  It's been a big year for me, which started with the blog and then really got going on the 7th (yes, actually the 7th) when we found out that I was pregnant.  I wouldn't change a thing about the last year (and change), and I'd like to thank you all for being a part of it!

In celebration, I have another project to share.

I crocheted an Easter basket for Veronica, using the most adorable free pattern from Lion Brand (love their yarn studio here in the city).  I used Knit Picks Brava Worsted -- I was completely terrified to use acrylic because I tend to get sore hands from it, but I'd heard really good things about Brava and I thought it would be perfect for the project.  I loved it!  Really soft and felt like working with natural fibers.  I was planning on using it for a lot of future projects.  I'm not linking it, though, because I've heard that the yarn has changed a lot since production has moved from Turkey to China.  From what I've seen, it's different enough that I wouldn't want to recommend the new version without trying it myself.

I wanted a larger basket than the pattern called for.  It is still quite small.  I held the yarn double throughout.  I switched to a hook one size smaller to make the handle, used foundation single crochet to cast it on, and added a row of crab stitch on the other size.  All of this helped the handle stay up really nicely.  I can't wait to fill it with candy and fake grass!

Thank you all so much for sharing this amazing year with me.  I look forward to more!
