I love that women love to talk about their boobs. I once tried to convince an employment lawyer that the fact that a photo editor and I had come up with a late-night talk-show idea called "Breast Talk"—and that we actually "hosted" this talk show in the photo department, sitting on two stools after midnight on late closing nights of the magazine we worked for—was no big deal, and not at all a sexual harassment issue in the office. He, quite firmly, disagreed. Oh. And, oops.

So I never got to launch that talk show. I'm sure it would have succeeded. After poking around the internet for just a day or two, I stumbled across not one, not two, not three, but FOUR posts by women talking about their breasts and bra-shopping. It's either funny or sad that at midlife we haven't quite figured out how to strap our melons into brassieres. Well, it might be both. But these posts? They're funny. As in made me cry funny.

As for the rest of you, go ahead and write your boob posts! Maybe I'll pitch that TV show idea to Oprah's network anyway.

From Old Tweener's post about her daughter:

She’s terrified of the prospect of one day having boobs that look like plastic grocery bags full of Jello pudding.

Just hanging there.

“Couldn’t they have hired someone with normal boobs, mom? Someone younger? Ugh, it was disgusting!”

So we had a long conversation about normal and how the models in In Style magazine aren’t a representative sample of the population in general.

From The Curvy Girl Guide's bra shopping adventure (check out her before-and-after bra shopping pictures):

I texted my husband to warn him that I was going to have to spend some dough on some new bras. Thankfully he understood. “I support boob support,” he said.

From Negativity Is Not for Annie Oakley's ode to a good bra:

I don't care what it is, any problem, no matter how monstrous or trivial, life altering or mundane, can be solved with just one thing; a good bra. Think about it- world peace, in-law troubles; you name it- all can be taken care of by the simple action of finding that splendid unmentionable and connecting it's maddening hook clasp between our shoulder blades. A good bra makes us stand a little taller, smile a little brighter, shine that little speck more.

And please, for the love of all that is good, check out Miss Grace's illustrated guide to bra shopping.

It's TRUE! Boobs are funny - though, frankly, I had no idea how funny until I'd had two kids. And the world would be a much happier place if we all had bras that fit. It's hard to be bitchy when your boobs are happy! Yeah. I think your boob-themed talk show would do very well :)
