There are many of us blogging about books, and we're becoming quite a community, but most of us only know each other online. Why not take advantage of a chance to meet face-to-face and talk about some of the things we have in common, no matter what our particular reading/blogging interests are?
And what are some of those issues we have in common?
- Creating interesting content, not just posting "book reports," balancing the bookish and the personal, and making your blog stand out (in a good way!)
- Author/blogger relations: mutual obligations/responsibilities, reviewing fairly, good/bad/ugly author experiences
-The role of book blogs in book promotion, as the mainstream media cuts back on book coverage
These are just a few suggestions about content - there could certainly be more, or other, topics.
I'd love to see this session open to authors and publicists as well as book bloggers.
I would prefer NOT to present the session unless it was as part of a panel or small group.
