Murder, Suspense, and Hot Romance in The Beach Trees

BlogHer Review
Murder, suspense, intrigue, forbidden love, romance -- The Beach Trees by Karen White has it all! The Beach Trees
This book is like Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil meets The Skeleton Key meets Pearl Harbor -- if I had to compare it to movies. It’s got all that yummy mysterious suspenseful goodness wrapped into a very intriguing romance. It’s pretty much everything you could want in a book!

The way White describes the Gulf Coast, her beautiful and eloquent descriptions of the Garden District in New Orleans and the shores in Biloxi, had me wanting to start planning my next vacation. Her carefully chosen words transport you to the Gulf where you can almost smell the salty ocean air.

One drawback to this book is that it gets a little slow in the middle. But press on, because in the last quarter of the book, everything is revealed and all of the puzzle pieces start fitting together. The suspense had me turning pages like mad to see what happened next. My favorite part of the book is the way White writes about the relationships in the story. She writes about them in such an honest and heart-felt way that I got sucked right into the middle of the drama and found myself rooting for characters and longing for their emotional and romantic fulfillment just as much as they were.

If you’re looking for a book that takes you away from where you are and lets you get lost in an eerily mysterious, yet positively comforting and charming world, The Beach Trees is your book. I highly recommend it!
