From the very first paragraph of Faithful Place by Tana French, I was grabbed and pulled in and didn't want to put it down. Frank and Rosie were young, and in love, and just about to set out on their way to England to find a new life for themselves, when something went wrong. Rosie never showed up at the meeting place -- Frank assumed she left without him and spent the next 20 years thinking he had been dumped.

He left his home anyway, and never looked back. Then one day out of the blue, he received a call from his sister -- a suitcase had been found in a dilapidated old house in the neighborhood. What follows is a gripping tale of murder, loves lost, and lives destroyed, with lots of twists and turns.

Ms. French has an brilliant way with words. I loved her writing style, and I could hear the Irish accents so clearly when reading the dialog in this story. Her vivid descriptions made me able to put myself in the places she was describing. I could almost feel the love Frank and Rosie had for each other because Ms. French captured the sweetness and longing of a teenage romance so well. Seen through the memories of a man now in his forties, it was truly mesmerizing.

You'll have to read this one for yourself to find out what happens, but I guarantee you won't regret picking this one up.
