Bridal Shower for Shay!
By kimmieklewis6 on September 05, 2013
My cute niece just got married, yesterday!!!! I thought I would share what we did for her shower, last weekend. She’s such a cutie that we wanted to make sure her shower matched her cuteness!!!!! We always let the bride decide what colors she wants for the shower and we find out what their style is and we go from there!
Shay decided that she wanted the colors black and pink. We have so much fun planning the brides big event! I bought 2 rolls of Tulle for $2.89 each, pink tablecloth 97cents and the table runner was $8.00. The hot pink box in the middle, I purchased from Hobby Lobby and used my 40% coupon. I love flowers they seem to add so much to the whole picture.
I went to the Dollar Store and couldn’t find anything I would want to use as the serving trays, so I went through my cupboards and found these lovelies!
I learned a serious and important lesson while spraying my Christmas trays…….use Krylon!!!!! It covers smoothly and makes your project look great.
I used a old glass cup for the base of the tray. The bling around the edge is from Wal-Mart’s sewing section. It was $2.89 a yard and looked super cute!
I love these labels!! They help put on the finishing touch for the shower and the price is reasonable. I ordered them from Oriental Trading Company. The price is $12.75 for 54 and you can personalize them for any occasion.
The bucket use to have stripes and we painted it and added the bling!! We filled it with ice and it keeps the water cold for hours.
I swear, put fruit on a stick and people go crazy!!!! I found this bucket and put some Styrofoam in the bottom and put the sticks into the foam. It works well and it stands out at any party. I have even done the kabobs at kids parties and the kids will eat all the fruit!!
The balloons that line the walkway are held down with golf tees. It’s a great way to let people know where the shower is being held. I have loved my little, cheap chalkboard!! Its a cute way to let them know that they have found the right party. I use chalk markers, instead of regular chalk, it makes a cleaner sign and doesn’t rub off as easy.
We made cute, little salads in waffle cone bowls! This is my new, favorite chicken salad recipe!!!
1 Rotisserie chicken, shredded
3/4 cup green pepper, chopped
3/4 cup craisins
3/4 cup sliced almonds
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup onions, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 celery stalks, chopped
- Combine chicken, celery, green pepper, onion, craisins and almonds in a large bowl. Make sure the chicken is completely cool, so it won’t melt the yogurt.
- In a separate bowl, mash avocados with a fork but you may want to process them if they are too firm. Add yogurt, garlic salt, salt and pepper and mix thoroughly.
- Add to chicken mixture and fold together until all ingredients are covered.
We always have different kinds of candy at the showers. It really makes your table “POP” and even grown women get excited about pink candy!!
The cupcakes are delicious!! Cassie will be posting the recipe on her week, so check it out!! We also had a Crepe buffet and Amber will be posting the recipe for that scrumptious dessert on her week!
