Bring on the books
By feelingbeachie on October 09, 2010
I never stopped to think about it, but since I purchased my Kindle over a year ago, I have not really been to a bookstore. Yes, I did run into one several months back, to pick up a newly released book by one of my favorite authors since it wasn’t yet available on the Kindle. But, since I just ran in and ran out, I don’t count it as a visit.
The other day, with plenty of free time on my hands, I headed to Barnes and Noble to pick up a children’s book as a present for one of my friends. As I entered the giant store, I realized how much I do miss book stores. I used to spend hours meandering about, walking up and down the aisles looking at all the covers. When I found something interesting, I would sit down on the floor and thumb through the books before making my selection. I did that all and it felt great!
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my Kindle, and love that I can read a book sample anytime and anyplace. I know that I will continue to read off my Kindle instead of printed books. But, I do think that I will bring book store browsing back into my life.
What type of reader are you?
